As a gay person, i'm starting to get a little offended at soaps using "gay kisses" for purely sensationlist, headline attention seeking purposes. What exactly are they trying to do?

Remember 20 years ago Barry kissed Michael (?) in the Queen Vic - que the dun dun dun music... fast forward twenty years Sonia kisses another women - dun dun dun...... has nothing changed in twenty years?

The way the scene is incorporated into the porgram, right before the end credits sends the message that this is supposed to be shocking - it's grouped along with other such delights that have occupied this spot such as people being murdered, bodies being dug up in cellars.

The most contrived mainipulative writing ever. Get over it soap writers.

Maybe your over reacting. Both Emmerdale and EastEnders finished with gay kisses but would have also finished it had been a man and a woman.

Sonia in this case was married and was kissing someone that was why it ended.

Ivan and Paul that is a start of a relationship so that is why they did it.

Well the Emmerdale one did come out of the blue had Ivan ever said he was bisexual before?

Nope, and never given Paul so much as a sideways glance as far as I remember, but then there was the flower arranging reference...

I'm not offended by it, but I am extremely bored with the whole idea that two people of the same sex kissing would be a shock in this day and age.

Notice the cop out, Naomi and Ivan are bisexual. With the way soaps never allow anyone to stay in a relationship for long how useful to have characters that can go either way.
I feel sorry for anyone who is gay, it seems to be trendy to "try it out". No wonder Paul is wary, how do you know who to trust.
Personally I find Ivan`s smile very off putting so I don`t see his attraction.
I also notice that now Derek has gone they are openly talking about him being gay, while he was in EE they made him asexual.

That's what i was thinking.
It's not about 'OMG A GAY KISS' it was because Sonia's straight and married.
I don't see how this could be an insult to anybody.
