Hey, glad you finally bought it.
How did you originally get the movie files into wmp?? some of the avi formats play straight away on the archos while others need to be endoded again. Thats the only bad point i have found so far with my archos. |

forget using WMP is your answer!
use any type of decent movie format - either DIVX or XVID - and you're on a winner. The only thing you have to bear in mind is if you ever have DTS soundtracks (AC3) 5.1 sound, they will not play on the AV500 as it has no s/w or h/w decoder for it (I've wrote to them to ask for this as a feature request). Your other answer - Don't use Windows Media Player to synchronise! In the setup of the AV500 (on the player itself) change to hard drive mode, and then copy any AVI files on yourself. OK? |

And (hopefully) on a connected topic. One of the better applications I found for creating avi files that the AV500 liked was Auto GK.
I got fed up with the Archos own brand software, and found using Auto GK sorted out alot of issues I was having with getting files to work. |
