Voting System
Grey Hound

I have always believed that when members of the public have been asked to vote - as on Strictly Come Dancing. then it was so that they could vote for the person (or people) who they thought put on the best performance.

It just seems to me, people are voting for who they like as people or performers in their chosen profession.

In my opinion, this is most unfair, the celebrities should be voted on their dancing - not on whether they are a great sportsman, actor, or whatever.

Other views on this?

Yeh i agree when bruce and tess are saying Vote its not for the couple who danced the best its always vote for your favourite couple. OOh my first post

I think there are elements of both - some vote according to how good the dancers are and some according to who they just like the best whether that be for their sparkling wit, devastating charm or in some case cute bums.

At the end of the day, its all fun and raising money for charity so I have no grave concern about this, and the finals seem to end up with the best dancers although not necessarily the best one wins, so once personal favourites are out I think people then fall back on who are the better dancers - maybe? who knows.

Although some people may be voting for the celebrity that is "a great sportsman, actor, or whatever", I think the majority of people vote for a variety of other reasons: the couple that entertains them the most, the celeb with the best personality/looks, the most talented, who the professional partner of the celeb is, how much the celeb has improved since the beginning, who is trying the hardest etc. More times than not, I imagine it's probably a combination of all these factors.

It's against human nature to keep switching support week to week. And you can't legislate people's feelings - I mean, they could announce that viewers should vote on performance, but how on earth would they enforce this?

if you read these boards and Ive said it before the dancing is not the main thing when people vote. The fact you can vote all week is the proof of that people vote before they have seen them dance for that week.

As it is an entertainment show not a dance competition run by the BCBD well that's fair enough but it's a shame the dancing at times takes a back seat like Fiona staying for all those weeks obviously on the back of Brendans popularity with the ladies (though god knows why)

To be honest (please don't kill me), I think that people votng for different reasons is what makes it a true competition. Whilst it may be annoying if your favourite is the best dancer and you believe that everyone should vote for the best, if every did do that there would be no sense of competition or suspense- every week the worst dancer would go out, which, whilst "fair", would probably be quite dull to watch: what would be the incentive to vote? Although it is for charity, people ote to attempt to keep their favourites, whoever they may be, in.

I wish I could vote through the week for my least favourite couple ... I'd be willing to raid my meagre savings for as much as a quid a day - but I'm not saying who my vote would be going to!

Come on, Aida, 'fess up

I think having to vote for my least favourite would have the reverse effect on me and stop me voting. I can't seem to get as passionate about hating people as I can about liking people.

I think all this pink (though I like it) has drawn my fangs a bit .. but I'll probably perk up soon .. I wish I was calm like you, but sadly I got all the 'vendetta' stuff through my genes via my Italian grandparents!
