Weekly Dance Choices

Having watched every programme in the 3 series, I am convinced it would be be better for all couples do the same dance each week. A fairer comparison of each celebs abilities could be made and couples doing some of the more 'boring' dances are not disadvantaged in judges or the publics voting.
Anyone else care to comment??

It maybe because bbc want a difference in early weeks just in case the x factor wanderers may find it a tad boring. (bless). But that is just a guess.

Totally agree - they should at least narrow it down to 2 dances like they had in the first few episodes.
The last couple of shows have been ridiculous in terms of the variety of dances performed, sometimes with only one person doing a specific dance. IMO it makes it impossible for the public to vote based on who they genuinely think has given the best performance with the main criteria instead being their favourite celebrities. Which I know is part of the show and its appeal but it is nice to feel that the quality of the night's dancing plays some part in the final outcome!

Yes could be true. I think they do need to keep the interest of the public up. However I don't think it's that hard for the judges, they shouldn't be comparing dancers anyways and they should just mark the dance they see. The dancers compare themselves afterwards (eg Darren said he beat Colins score)

i reckon its more like thts just the way it worked out
they divided them in half at the beginning because they cant have all 12 couple doing the foxtrot for example in the same show tht would be a bit boring!
so having the mixture of latin and ballroom i think works better as its a good variation and makes the show even more enjoyable and lively!
but now as it has worked out with people getting knocked off you cant help but have difference in dances!
i personally quite like it but i do see the issue
like the week when it was just bill doing the rumba there was far more emphasis on him because he was the only one doing the rumba!

Glad you see it the same way. I think when you get to this stage in the contest and left with 4 or 5 really good dancing celebs it makes a more level 'dancing' field .

I personally find it very hard to get a comparitive score when everyone is dancing different things. Would Colin's Viennese Waltz have got the same marks if it had been done at the same time as everyone else's? Did the less flashy waltzes and foxtrots of this Saturday make Zoe's tango look even more spectacular in comparison? Would Patsy's quickstep have got such a high score if it had been done alongside some others? I don't know, but I think there might have been some variance if there were at least a few people dancing the same thing.

I personally liked the way they did it in the first two series, where I seem to recall there were two different dances done per week.

I like the lads doing one dance and the lasses doing another. As Patrick Swayze said, it's not a fair competition of you're comparing them.
