Richard
I have bought a DVR 530H-s. My TV is a Loewe Xelos 32 with Freeview. I've linked the two via a SCART cable which previously went to my VCR. I'm getting no sound on playback from the HDD, amongst other things. I suspect from the picture replay quality that the HDD is recording an analogue broadcast from its own tuner; it was not happy downloading the EPG presets from the TV; worked ok, but only 5 visible.
I have been through both sets of set up screen, but must have got the wrong parameters. Any ideas? The TV also outputs sound to external speakers via an amplifier. |

OK, I'll bite - why is the subject of this thread "Richard"?
Anyway, you say the problem recordings you suspect are from its analogue tuners - were you expecting something else then? (you didn't say what else it was attached to and what you are ACTUALLY trying to record - or did you mean the output of the DVB-T tuner in the telly?) Cliff |

Xelos TV digital to HDD recorder
I put Richard because I am new and misunderstood the syntax. I have tried another title this time! Is that better? Probably less intriguing.
I am trying to record a digital Freeview broadcast which is playing on my TV using the inbuilt digital receiver in the TV. I think there are two aspects. First, the HDD recorder may be looking at its own tuner and not at the TV via SCART, and second the audio output from the HDD is not reaching either the TV inbuilt speaker or the external hifi speakers hooked to the TV output via a DVD/CD/DigRad audio tuner/amp. I also have a Freeview set-top box unused, which I could stick in between the aerial and HDD. |

I believe the signals just go through the box on their way to the TV. Have fun with the recorder - it's a great machine once you've got it all connected up. |

I've just posted this on another thread for someone else:
I'd be surprised if there wasn't a digital output (freeview) available from one of the tv's scarts. Read the tv manual carefully - you may have to change a setting on the tv menu (if you change anything, make a note of the original setting). Once this is set up correctly, the tv scart needs connecting to the scart input on the recorder (AV2/L1 I think). Then set the recorder to this 'channel' to record from. Not sure about the sound problem - try another scart lead and double check all the settings on the recorder - it could be that the sound output is set to digital, whereas your tv is looking for an analogue input? |
