My dreams are strangely specific...

I probably shouldn't be admitting this but I had a dream about him wearing ladies underwear, Erin's to be precise. Apparently he'd had underwear issues earlier on, but unfortunately I woke up before I found out more! It was um... interesting.

The Du Beke Effect now let me think, he's funny, gorgeous, dances like a dream, is good at most things , dresses wonderfully, knows how to boost a woman's confidence, patient, sweet, hot, hot ,hot, (but why only half an hour with him, thats so not enough)

My dream was very up close and personal about getting together with him, being in love with him, living with him, best dream Ive ever had in my life, woke up feeling amazing.

Also ( dont all shout at once ) the biggest Du Beke effect for me is dragging me away from the one the only the best ever Ian waite (tho libby has just texted me to say Ian on itt with stubble - Im fainting at the thought) so hmm where were we oh yes Anton, it also leads to things like this:

I think everyone can agree that the Du Beke effect is simply because he is about the only one that is just himself. I know most of them are but how many of them are always portrayed as sweet and small. I think the BBC just want to give different people different personalities, like Brendan being grumpy and Ian being a bit womenly, but because Anton is simply so out there you couldn't spend weeks on end showing him as one thing.

Plus he is lovely and just completely crazy, I think it's like when you really need someone to make you laugh and pick you up Anton will be there. We can actually see that he has a kind personality and it's what every women wants and needs, a man that isn't scared of his sexuality and that can have a laugh at anything. He's also a bit cheeky which makes him even sweeter then Ian. I know he's not to everyone's taste, but he even has guy's after him.

He must be a god because I've never seen a guy spread so much happiness and love through my community its amazing. And for that last week me and my friends spent around £70 voting for him on our phones and when we ran out phoned another 20 odd times on the land line.

I imagine he's the dancer all the female celebs hope to get because he always seems so positive. If you got 99% of a routine wrong, he would tell you how great the 1% was, that you can do it, and he's amazed how well you are doing. That kind of encouragement must be terrific.

He seems to make his partners feel wonderful... but I don't *get* the physical attraction thing myself (sorry!).

Jessikart, I started the same as you. Thought how lovely he was to his partners etc. It wasn't until he was kicked out early in the second series that I realised that I liked him quite a lot in another way too. lol

Initally my attraction to him lie solely in his sense of humour and his personality; that kind of person that you think to youself "It's all a front, bravado - It can't be real" Oh how wrong was I and for once in my life I have more than no problem admitting i'm wrong. Anton for me is insatiable...Metaphorically speaking; Nothing can quench your thirst for him.

Obviously of course he is just gorgeous, it's a combination of things that makes him so but that is one factor of the du Beke Effect that is so controlling. I'm just a puppet on your string Anton. *Drools into keyboard*

What false impressions are those then? In my dancing I have met and danced with most of the dancers who are now on SCD including Anton.
Ok everyone by now knows his real name, more or less knows his age, both of which he doesnt own up to. So why should he, his private life is his private life. i think he is a superb ballroom dancer, (not entirely convinced about his latin). great personality, very funny, very caring and makes fun of himself, which is not easy to do. Did you see him on Star Spell. It was hilarious! Rubbish at spelling but great entertainment. He has the ability to make all women feel special. He likes himself a lot. Who cares, he is just adorable. Nobody's perfect but he is good at appearing to be, and the show would be less interesting without him. Go Anton we love you!

He likes himself a lot"" Probably one goes with the other - no-one who doesn't have self-confidence is going to be able to make other people feel good. Making other people feel special is the sure way to be thought of as special yourself - I know people who can do it and it's just so good to be with them. He's certainly an expert on making the older ladies feel good about themselves - both Lesley and Esther had a wonderful time with him. In another century he'd have made the perfect gigolo!! (OK girls, stop working out how you'd have paid for his services!!)

I agree entirely ElizabethJo, the dancers and indeed the celebrities private lives are none of our business. Its interesting to see the bits they allow us to but we dont know these people (well most of us dont) and have no right to judge them or assume we know about them when we dont.
The show is wonderful because of the entertainment value, the dancing, the mixture of personalities that are paired together and because of the journey each of them are making in learning to dance.

I know perhaps we get carried away sometimes on here (I own up me very much) but most of us know its just light hearted fun inspired by the larger than life personalities/and gorgeousness and talent of the people we see each week. The show wouldnt be the same without them and I bet even those who make a fuss about us going on about them would miss them if they weren't there. Perhaps they are just secret Anton lovers who dont want to come out of the closet

I think the Celebrities and the Dancers do a wonderful job that they dont always get enough credit for, these are people basically putting their real lives on hold to provide us with a wonderful show for ten weeks. Many of the Profs are competing while in the Competion, keeping up their private lessons, etc, while the Celebrites have day jobs and families too. So lets remember this and be grateful that they give so much time and effort to make our night every Saturday.

I'm on the wrong thread, really sorry but whatever that effect is it just totally and utterly eludes me - WHOOSH - straight over my head.

I can admire his dancing, but as a man, I find he has an overly inflated ego, a very irritating manner, a smarmy expression and a really, really annoying speaking voice.

I've just made a wallpaper for my PC of our divine du Beke and of course Erin. It's not a great work of art that could rival Piccasso or Monet but y'know, it gives me Anton to stare attentively at everytime I turn on my PC now so I think...yep, I think i'll go and get a Coffee and stare at my desktop background for another 5 hours or more. *faints*

To me, he's just a self maufactured personality who comes over as a bit shallow and very, very irritating.But he's a brilliant dancer, I 've read all this thread to try and find out what it is that makes him so popular. I've failed. One man's meat is another man's poison and thank goodness for that. Wouldn't the world be boring if we were all the same?
Good luck to Anton, may he come back next year and go right through to the final so all you ladies can get a good 'fix' of him.

Tasi, To me not having a fix of Anton would be the ultimate hell, if you wanted to get metaphorical it would be like having no air to breathe. Anton is just who he is and it's who he is that we love so darn much.
