Having just sat through your wonderful Monday night programme telling me all about SUNDAY night in the House I feel moved to take your collective heads and ram them against a hard surface!!!

Do you not realise that even non-digital E4 viewers have sources of information about Big Brother!!!

A high percentage of C4 watchers will have internet access - or their friends will - or their newspaper will report it ect.

I realise you meed to make E4 a premium service etc etc and so C4 only gets highlights...

BUT FOR GOD'S SAKE CAN WE AT LEAST HAVE HIGHLIGHTS OF THE DAY IN QUESTION!!!!

Your coverage has been hopeless.

And you cut the Tour de France show too!!!!

Get off your collective @rses and stop playing motivational games in your offices - get out on the streets, get into forums like these and find out what people REALLY want!!!!!

Thank God for DS!!!!

MGOM

ps please post up your frustrations here guys and gals. You never know the odd C4 animal might snuffle by!!!!

I'm not 100% sure what this thread's about. Are we basically saying that Monday's highlights should be shown on the Monday, Tuesday's on the Tuesday etc.?

errr... yes???????? It doesn't air till 10 ish so there'splenty of time to edit down a 30 -45 min programme. Even put it on at midnight if C4 needs more time.

I suspect its all about contracts - so negotiate better ones!!!

there you go.

Please come back to us you fun loving poster you. OK I understand what youre saying its just that it came out of nowhere after three years - thats all!

Yes I agree it would be better shown on the day it happened with the nights content tagged onto the following day. I just never thought about it thats all.

Happy thoughts MGOM, happy thoughts............

OK, firstly the putting it on at midnight is a non-starter because of one simple fact....ratings. Less people will watch it if it's put on later.

Second, how would you work the highlights? Editing a programme takes up a lot more time than you would think. Also, if you're looking at a programme dealing exclusively with the actual day's highlights then what do you do about the evening's events, when most of the highlights occur?

If you're saying that, say, Sunday night's highlights are tagged onto Monday's show, then that defeats the point of your argument.

It's not unusual for most of the 'action' to occur during the previous evening so showing something like 24 hours 19:00 (previous day) to 19:00 (same day) would not result in that different a show. At least the way they do it the programme all relates to one day. I like the highlights the way they are...

As the chap from Middlesbrough says

"Day ?? in the Big Brother House"

Sorry but I disagree with all of this.

Ratings won't suffer. The people that are addicted to BB are mainly late-birds I think - look at this forum for example - people posting well after 1am

Secondly modern editing is much faster than YOU think It would not be a problem.

And finally if it's Sunday show SUNDAY's highlights
If its Monday show Mondays highlights.

Any really interesting bits that happen between the edit cut off and midnight can be quickly string together as a reprise at the start of each programme.

Fair enough. If you want to read all the updates on here and other BB sites, chat on the forum about things you haven't yet seen - and then watch YESTERDAYS events - then fine.

Too much like Groundhog Day for me I'm afraid

The current arrangement makes sense because the highlights finish roughly when the housemates go to bed the previous day. In my opinion any other arrangement would mean an unnatural and arbitrary break, apart fom the problem of editing the footage in time.

I know what it is !

I do a lot of it myself

They cannot string together a 30 min 'story' (ie its not just random disjointed bits) at the drop of a hat

If YOU think YOU can do it, apply for the job!

The people on this forum are, mostly, diehard fans but not everybody who watches Channel 4 are of the same ilk. You get casual watchers or people who'll watch the programme before they go to bed.

Look at it this way, I believe Big Brother is getting around 5 million viewers. This forum does not have anywhere near 5 million members. Remember, Channel 4 and the programme sponsors aren't only going after addicts, they are trying to reach down to the casual observer with their biggest ratings winner, which they wouldn't be able to do at any later time. 10 o'clock is generally counted as the latest time for a mainstream, headlining programme to be aired.

As for the editing side of things, I think you're asking a lot. Costs also come into it as well as time (which is an issue, it's not just a matter of stringing together a few bits of film...the whole days has to be picked apart and put together). People have to be paid extra etc.

In the end, your suggestions aren't really practical. Channel 4 delays the highlights by a day, it's nothing really to get enraged about is it???

I just don't see how you can be satisfied with this... but it's your right to be.

I'm NOT though. I've read about the hair dyeing and the Diary room mic glitch - I wanna see it tonight not tomorrow night when by then a whole new set of happenings will be being reported.

As you're all whinging about C4, can I add my 'ickle whingelet - the website. I've not been able to get it at all today (although trying two ISP's, and that all other URLs I have tried to get seem ok). I also often find it is unavailable during the day, especially around lunchtime - this is the time I look at it whilst having a coffee before work (I work afternoons) and I find it intensely annoying. Sure I can get all the information here (and do - becoming quite a BBS addict now ), but that's not the point! OK, they need to update the site etc. but I can't believe it causes this amount of downtime!

PS: MGOM - taut body??? Mmmmm - tell me more

Myfanwy,

Just to confirm something, I work in website design and upkeep myself, and I can tell you that updating sites doesn't cause any downtime at all.

I don't visit the official site very often, but I would hazard a guess that any problems with unavailability are being caused by a high level of visitors to the site causing a strain on their servers. This might be confirmed by you saying that it's generally down around about lunchtime, when many people might be looking at the site whilst at lunchbreak.
