The Beatles Music Videos
Its amazing how I have looked at it as.. 'the norm'.. but.. why aren't there any beatles videos on the music channels?.. There are the who., rolling stones etc.. but never any beatles..
id presume its somethin to do with copyrights? MJ/Macca? id prefer to see the beatles topping all these crappy charts that v1h make esp ones where Nirvana are number 1!.. yak.. altho Queen I agree with.. Bohemian Rhapsody is the greatest song ever to be created and will be forever... but anyway.. WHY NO BEATLES VIDEOS?.. Even live ones?.. |

In fact... I tell a lie...
Wikipedia talks about The Beatles being pioneers of the format. Although the descriptions of the videos do seem like they wouldn't fit in with the music videos of today. People would just think they look tacky. jack |

I'm quite sure a DVD will emerge in time. Things move very slowly in Beatle-world. (They still haven't got around to digitally remastering all the CDs yet.)

In fact the first 'videos' made, in order to show on TV instead of the Band having to travel all over the world doing promotion were for the single Paperback writer/Rain. I have seen these shown from time to time but it's very rare, they are available on the Anthology DVDs. As 'videos' they more than stand up against a lot of stuff today. It could be argued, and a lot of 'video' directors agree that the music segments in the A Hard Days Night film set the format for pop videos. Quote:

And I hope they never do.

I`ve seen one for "Penny Lane", where the group are wearing their Sgt. Pepper outfits and riding on horseback. Quite entertaining.
![]() I`ve also seen one for "Strawberry Fields" but I`m darned if I can remember much about it.

There's also a specially filmed performance promo (in Peppersuits) of Hello Godbye (for the Ed Sullivan Show) and the performance of Hey Jude and Revolution on David Frost (both fantastic) and a video for Something. The Beatle video promos weren't too bad.

Hi
I used to have all the Beatles promo Videos on VHS (I used to go to Beatle conventions where you could buy anything) Try this link below they have all the Video clips http://beatlesx1.tripod.com/beatles_movie_page.htm Look under new clips for the PennyLane and Strawberry Fields videos. It also has the Rain and Paperback writer videos |

Great site Strawberry 66. Why the shameface? The Beatles were erm ... fab!
I think OP may have a point about their lack of tv play - maybe they're just more expensive than Who/Stones clips etc (just a stab in the dark) **shameface** |

Plus also EMI/Apple are always careful about 'song' placement which is why they are rarely on TV and sixties compilations and the like. In fact I cant think of any beatles song on a sixties comilation. I know Micheal Jackson owns the rights to a lot of the songs but this doesnt effect the situation, not sure how it works though.

re Beatles on compilations
I'm pretty sure (for that read 'not fully sure') that Day Tripper was on one in the early/mid Nineties but your point is, of course, valid. |
