ive got my advent media centre hooked up to my 17 inch computer monitor and my 28 inch CRT widescreen TV. What i'd like to know is whether its possible that i can have my standard resolution and settings on my computer monitor but change the resolution and aspect ratio etc for the tv. So if i want to watch a dvd or downloaded video i can do it, also just now text to read on monitor is perfect but is far too small on the tv. as are my icons. Basically its as if im running to different sets of settings on 2 monitors but only one computer

Please help me, Thanks in advance

Are you getting the same image on both screens? If so, you need to extend the desktop onto the second screen (the TV) then set the resolutions independantly.

You can find this setting in Display Properties -> Settings.

My memory is a bit vague on this, but I remember having an IBM laptop that could do that a few years ago, running Windows 2000.

Click on the Advanced button on the Video Properties -> Settings page and see whether there are any driver specific pages to fiddle around with. It will largely depend upon your video card chipset and drivers.
