Cannot change end time during scheduled recording
sdesign

Am I right in saying that once a scheduled recording has started you cannot edit the end time (i.e. add padding)?

I was recording something last night when I realised it ended at 11:00pm and not 10:00pm as I had originally thought, so went in to edit the end time but couldn't open the edit option (only cancel was selectable).

I wonder if this could be added to the wishlist for Humax. I know you can edit the end time during a manual recording (just by hitting the record button again) so I don't why this shouldn't be possible during a scheduled recording....or have I missed something?

You're right. That's one of my annoyances both with the 8000T and the 9200T.

If you turn on and discover the programmes are running 20 minutes late because of an extended news bulletin (happens at least several times a month usually) and the program you've set afterwards wil loose the last 20 minutes, there's normally nothing that can be done about it.

If you are fortunate enough to have the programme concerned in the buffer, it is possible to run that back and re-record it from the start.

Couldn't you simply manually program a second recording set to start at the exact end time of the first ( on the same channel of course ) . You will end up with two recordings , with a few seconds break in between but that is better than losing the last few minutes .

And the murderer was ..... Bu.. ( insert your favourite words of damnation here ! )

Wait for an ad / news break then stop the current recording then start a new one of the required length. Of course, on the 8000T then you can no longer watch the first part until the second part has finished.

Yes, I can see there are work arounds but still think that it would be a good improvement. Please Humax (if you are reading!) could you allow the end time to be changed during a scheduled recording. Thanks!

Did this one get fixed?

no this hasn't been changed.

I can't actually think of any recording device I've ever owned (and I've had quite a few) that would let you adjust the end time once a programmed recording starts so I doubt Humax will make this a priority.

what channels do you watch, I record lods of programmes every week (more than is healthy ) and can count on the fingers of one hand the number of times programmes have been delayed that much by the news in the last 5 years you must be really unlucky.

Wow, this thread has come back from the dim distant past!

Well it is usually when something is scheduled after a football match that has gone into extra time, or normal programmes had been suspended after some disaster, bereavement or whatever and everything is running late.

I now have a Pioneer 540HX (DVD recorder with Freeview tuner) as well which lets you cancel a scheduled recording without stopping it. Once the timer for that recording is cancelled the recording becomes a manual recording which can then be stopped or extended (like the Humax) with repeated presses of the record button.

I guess a solution like that could be worked into the Humax software, so that pressing stop while recording would give you a second option to cancel the timer event as well as the one to stop the recording completely.
