Objective is a hard one for me.
I average out the marks according to three criteria:

Performance
Technical
Personality

Which is why, in my scores, Zoe Ball always seems to come low down...

I'm as sorry as anybody about Patsy going. At this stage I'm not wanting ANYBODY to leave. But to leave James out of the equation, I don't think she deserved to go through. I don't know what Arlene was watching on the Smooth when she said 'you deserve a place in the final' but the footwork was anything but smooth, there was no poise, elegance or control. Acting isn't everything in dancing. I was so impressed by Patsy the first 4 weeks of the show that I'd have bet on her to reach the final, she was superb. The tango on the 3rd week was magnificent and for me she was far more exciting to watch than Zoe.

BUT what the hell happened after that?? Not remembering steps, clunky footwork and looking very awkward, I know, I know she did get some unlucky dance draws compared with Zoe. But she was an immense disappointment. I'm not a fan of Anton's choreography either, he put in some very ungraceful moves in the quickstep and cha cha cha (the scissors) awful which made Patsy look worse than she was.

So I'm very sorry, but I honestly don't think she'd have been any further than next week anyway. Something happened the week of the samba and it's never got back to that standard of the first few weeks.

But she finally said the right thing at the end, about more family entertainment needed on the box. Very nicely put.

Patsy has suffered from bouts of lack of confidence and nerves, but overall she was a better dancer than James. I agree she shouldn't have gotten to the final but she should have made the semis.

One thing I've actually been pretty impressed with this year was Anton's choreography. I think both he and Erin have improved greatly in that area. He's made dances to suit Patsy's personality and ability to act - and that American Smooth was just divine. He also looked like he worked hard to make sure she showed off those great legs too!

I was actually quite dismayed with Camillia's choreography last night. I have liked her since the 1st series but the samba seemed to make James look like a spare part and the American Smooth was uninspired in comparison to the others. I think that dance really showed who the ballroom professionals were!

Patsy & Anton will both be sadly missed.
Apart from the gorgeous Ballroom [shame about the Latin] they both added a touch of comedy to the show every week, and that lightness was appreciated by me amidst all the competitive types.

Thanks Indya. I tried to post as honestly as I could and I also said on the woah thread that my admiration for Patsy's guts is total, as indeed for all the celebs..

Patsy was the one that got away and the one who never reached her full potential.. A BIG shame.

The public don't vote like that though. they vote male unless a female is clearly better and when presented with three middle-aged Alpha males who look good its not surprising if a female audience of similar age and above votes for other things. Females are always punished for being emotional - whether you watch BB or SCD. Weak performers criticised by the public always pull in votes - look at FA and celebrity FA.

Its a serious flaw in all reality TV. Big Brother got round it for three series out of 6 by making the winner obvious and eventually in 2005 gave up on caring who won. Pop Idol and X factor tend to produce stars who are best suited to Eastbourne OAP shows - which reflects their audience. SCD is even worse off because the judges don't have the choice of who actually goes as they do in the Fame Academy and x Factor formats - that means you can't even make sure that the better dancer stays.

The public is not even consistent. Ricky is very well placed to win I'm a Celebrity because he is a good working class bloke who needs a career break. Bianca gets ejected in SCD in favour of a rich chef despite being a good working class girl who danced better on the night. Patsy actually has the advantage of being an extremely good actress too . Bianca had the talent and put in the effort too, but Ricky, the male, probably gets the reward for eating grubs.....

The big question is will Zoe even get to the final. If she doesn't come first with the judges the public is really going to have to change its voting criteria or she won't make it.

Sorry, but I don't agree with something you've said in the above post.

I'm male & I am voting; admitedly, for a male celebrity, but this is largely out of respect for what his, female, partner has managed to do with their training.

Nowt to do with the "alpha male", purely down to the fact that between his dedication & her skills, they've produced amazing results;as a team.

I've got as much respect for her, as a teacher, as I have for him getting over his, "I can't do that, it's effeminate", attitude.

There's no need to place a sexist interpretation on Saturday night's result.

Patsy just didn't get enough public support to make up for the 2 point difference in the judges scoring, between her & Zoe. Zoe appears to have got no public support at all; for whatever reason, but Zoe stays in.

I won't attempt to justify the result; who can diagnose the GBP's thoughts, but, please, don't use I'm a Celeb as a comparisson with SCD. One is a pure popularity contest, the other is a combination of this with a dancing competition: chalk & cheese, I'm afraid.

All I would ask is that you remember that the SCD audience is very mixed; with a vast number of reason for the FP's voting, & that makes it very difficult to generalise in your diagnosis of the results.

I just want to simply say this!! i cant believe what happned this week on scd!!

What pile of r***bish!!

The judges should have learnt by now the amount of stick if they go after one contestant i.e james, they will get the most viewer votes!!!

This result was a disgrace! Patsy was so fantastic in the american smooth!!

I actually hope they feel really bad in having the sympathy vote because they should have been the ones to go!!

T care
