What in the name of all that is holy just happened there? WHY are Anton and Patsy out and James and Camilla still in? I mean James ur a great guy but u were worst on the night. Im still trying to get over the shock. I can't beleive no more Anton in the comp. He always gets so close. Always the bridesmaid.

I was also shocked that Zoe was in the bottom two but part of me was delighted. Does that make me a bad person? I just think those judges need to be taught a lesson cos they're always gushing needlessly about her and Ian and it kinda drives me mad.

Touche.

I have a bad taste in my mouth after tonight.

i wanted zoe and ian out! i thought it was totally unprofessional of her to make reference to Erin's (TRUE!) comments. She was obviously getting very big headed- time she went out!

And Zoë's face in the backstage shot - suddenly, from being very upbeat to sucking a lemon. That won't do her any good at all. I think James' fanbase is pretty strong, but I was sorry to see Patsy go tonight, her attitude did her enormous credit.

She made comments about Erins's comments? When? I missed the first half of the show and therfore the first dances so didnt get to see that. What did she say pray tell. I hope Erin does win. Zoe just annoys me now for sum reason.

How right you are! You noticed that too.
Did you notice how Erin's comment which referred to Zoe's dance two weeks ago was edited to make it look like it referred to the Tango last week. Zoe's Tango WAS Fab and deserved high marks.

The general public don't like smug, smart arses hence I think Zoe being in the bottom two, despite dancing well on the night. Also for goodness sake stop clinging on to Ian!!

I voted for James. And I'm glad I did. I won't be this week though, I don't think they should be in the final.

Darren & Lilia to win!

Have to say I was secretly willing it to be Zoe who went.

Erin said her performance was great but didn't warrant a 10. Does anyone actually disagree with this? Does Zoe really think her performances are perfect? If she does she requires a serious reality check. Yes (apart from tonight) they have been great (just as Erin said) but no, they haven't been worthy of a perfect 10 (just like Erin said).

Was shocked about James and Camilla, but I guess since the phone lines for the next week open as soon as the show is over then James will have got a lot of votes during the week. Overall I think he and Patsy are about the same performance-wise, tonight though he was worse.

It was a darn sight less "unprofessional" than it was of Erin to have commented on her in the first place. Anyone is going to feel slightly aggrieved by other contestants talking about what they did or didn't deserve. I know Erin didn't mean it in a bad way, but when something is directed at you, it's only human nature to be slightly knocked by it.

Glad to see the Zoe fans [/sarcasm] coming out in force once again.

Some of the comments here sum up exactly why the voting goes the way it does. It seems some people vote because of a facial expression backstage rather than the dancing/performance skills.

Zoe and Ian's tango alone makes her a finalist if not a winner.

I just wish people were restricted to voting for the performance on the night. what in heavens name are the phone lines doing open for next week already? we haven't seen them dance next weeks routine yet, so how can anyone vote fairly on who should stay in next week?

On tonights performance I would have scored Zoe and Ian bottom, not because I don't like her eyes, or don't like his chest. Not because I didn't like her dad, or don't like her dress but purely on the performance on the night, Zoe and Ian were the weakest performers.

Now, if we were voting on course work and taking into account the collective performances throughout the competition, then I would say James and Camilla are the weakest overall, closely followed by Patsy and Anton.

you see, I don't have a favourite. I admire all of the dancers, pros and celebs, because I know how damned hard it is to try and perfect dance routines, not in one night, not in a week, but over months and months of one-on-one tuition, so they all deserve praise for getting their dancing to this incredibly high standard.

However that is the nature of competition...someone has to be bottom and on tonights performance I would have said that was Zoe and Ian, overall, it would be James & Camilla. (IMHO).

Hold on! All Zoe said was that when she heard Erin's comments (which I think were a little unprofessional of her to make in the first place!) broadcast on last week's show it made her more determined than ever to do her best on the tango. Zoe, with everyone else, saw the clip where Erin was complaining about the 10's Z & I have gotten in the past. She said that it had upset her - as naturally it would...nothing big-headed about that in the least - and so she and Ian put that energy into their tango and it helped with the "fierceness factor" (my words, not Zoe's)

Exactly the point I was attempting to make Gazbo - it's an editing decision on the part of the Beeb, and no-one can hide their true reaction to something they feel is unjust, which is where my "sucking a lemon face" came in - I don't recall seeing that kind of reaction shot before - do you?

You make excellent sense, Retired pre-am, and it would be great if everyone took their personal feelings out of the equation and voted for the best dancers. Unfortunately the phone lines are open all week to make money for the phone calls - not as cynical as usual as I believe a large proportion of it goes to Children in Need.

But on the Zoe and Ian issue. If they really were the weakest performers, what are our judges looking at? They did criticise them a bit this week but they still awarded them the 2nd highest sets of marks and still appear to be under their spell.

You seriously thought James danced better than Zoe tonight? No way!! He almost dropped poor Camilla. I hated to see Patsy and Anton go but I do think Patsy gave the worst performance tonight. But as to J & C dancing better than Z & I....uhhhhhh....come on!

For James to have survived, he needed top marks from the telephone votes, (5 from the judges + 1 from the public = 6). For Zoe to be in the last two she needed bottom marks (4 from the judges + 1 from the public = 5). Patsy needed to have second-lowest (2 from the judges + 2 from the public = 4 and voted out).

I do hope we're going to see a proper line up in the final and not one dictated by sympathy voting. James has done well, is now competent but is not up to the standard of any of the others.

He didn't almost drop her! He pulled off the lift tremendously well!

Last year I thought it was Denise's fault I didn't like her and Ian, but I'm going off Zoe as well so maybe it's something to do with him!!!

Can't remember who it was said he lifted her like a leg of lamb. Alas, I didn't record it - wish I could see it again. He didn't necessarily nearly drop her but he made her look like a sack of coal; his right arm was grasping to support her leg.

I dnt think it is 2 do with Ian personally. I think somewhere in everyone is the feeling of no-one likes a swot. I think because Zoe and Ian get such high praise from the judges even when their dancing doesn't reflect that, it irks some people. I was fine with Ian and Denise last year. I felt that sumtimes they were unfairly treated cos they came across as the 'diva' coulple partly due to Bruno screaming it at them every other week and they clips form their VTs on ITT.

Everyone says that it was expected that people turn on Zoe at some point but I wasnt that much of a fan of her from day 1. She danced well in the Waltz then after that it just became a pantomime of popularity and beauty and had less to do with dancing as the weeks went on. Out of all the dances she has done two of them have deserved the high praise and high marks and thats the Tango and Waltz IMO

in my opinion erin was stating her views, she was being perfectly professional as she is a champion and was merely commenting that she thought a 10 should be saved for perfection! Zoe should've taken it on the chin instead of making a snide remark and saying it made her more determined. Zoe seemed to be shocked with the remarks and found that she needed to remark about it. She was being sour and bitter and it was awful to watch!

Sorry, but none of the above is correct. The following are possible telephone votes (first = highest votes):

Colin, James, Darren, Patsy, Zoe - i.e. James need not have come top.
James, Colin, Darren, Zoe, Patsy - i.e. Zoe need not be bottom, Patsy need not be second-lowest.

(Don't forget, if scores are tied between James/Zoe or Darren/Zoe, Zoe loses on the audience vote tie-breaker).

There are a couple of options more than that. I chucked another thread on it a few minutes ago

It's similar to the scenario two weeks ago, with Bill and Karen.

B&K were roundly criticised, got very poor scores and came bottom with the judges. The public clearly felt very strongly, and rallied round with the votes, so much so that Bill wasn't in the bottom two, and Will, who had done quite well with the judges, was the one to go. It was calculated that for this to have happened, Bill must have come bottom with the judges and top or second with the public. It was also the week that Patsy was in the bottom two, despite being second with the judges, meaning that she had to be very low in the public vote.

The following week, the judges were generally much nicer to Bill and Karen, and out they went.

So I'm thinking that tonight, the judges were very harsh to James and Camilla, hence high public vote, hence being saved. I'm thinking that next week, they'll be less critical, and James will be on his way home.
