...but just to clarify that a lot of people in the North East (of which I am one) think Jonny is a n*b - and that's because he's misrepresenting the region and portraying the people who live here as shallow jokers.
So just to explain to the rest of the country - We're not all like Jonny - some of us have some depth! ”

Of course leebec.
I too am from the North, generally really like people from the NE and am not averse to having a few beers with me mates and I also love me familee. I wasn't suggesting that anyone with these things in common *had* to like him for it, just that surely *some* people will - a strong and maybe protective gut reaction without any need for an explanation. (ie stick with your own people) This was one theory to explain the lack of reasoning.
I still believe this is the case for some people but thankfully there's been some great input by Jonny fans here which has broadened the debate.
It's odd but in RL (If Jonny IS genuine) I would probably get on with and have more in common with him more so than Alex but
in the Big Brother set-up I just see him as playing to stereo-types and being a favourite to win almost by default.
I *think* I understand why the two camps find it so hard to get on. Because the very same reasons many of his fans like him - down to earth, working class, nice north eastern accent, likes a drink and smoke and a good laugh etc etc are the same reasons people *don't* want him to win BB, not because these are terrible faults (they're not) and Jonny is a horrible person (he's not) but because it's just so unoriginal and it's not about *who Jonny is* but what/who he represents.
I think people who would hate to see him win, feel so because they see him playing to all the above in quite a cynical way.
This is a generalisation but I feel it's like people voting for their local Labour MP when most people don't know his name or what kind of person he is, they just do because that's what they do. It requires little effort on the MP's part because he's representing Labour and that guarantees him a certain amount of support. Weak analogy but you see my point.
This suggestion is to explain *some* people's motives, not the people who have posted in this thread!!
