and THIS and THIS seems to comfirm it.”

Thanks for that.

So it peaked at 9.8m and dropped a little to 9.4m. Is anywhere mentioning the audience share at the moment?

From DigitalSpy

EastEnders (44%)
Coronation Street (41.2%)
Doctor Who (42.7%)
.
.
.
WWTBAM (28.7%)
Not impressed to see Corrie sneak slightly ahead in these later charts by virtue of rounding down

And I hung myself out to dry, as BG would say. Oh well, wishful thinking I suppose.

So what's the prize?

That may well change once the final ratings are in next week.

Personally I'm disappointed. I thought that 10 million would be OK, but even that wouldn't have been great given the poor quality of the 'competition' (on normal TV at least) other than 'Dances with Watford' on Five (a movie about Graham Taylor's time as manager of the club I think). The only good thing is that people weren't all glued to their TVs, but they should have been for DW!!!

Anyone else feel the same?

Not really, TV viewing habits have changed quite a bit, Christmas more so (remember when a top soap would get 15-20 million only a few years ago, Morecambe & Wise would get 20-24million).

With DVDs, PSPs, X-Boxes, Mobile Phones, internet access, etc, there is quite a lot for people to do now instead of TV.

I suppose you're right and my expectations were a little unrealistic.

Also, I suppose the number of heads per TV would probably be higher than normal...though I guess that would apply to most programmes. For instance, there were 9 or 10 of us watching it at ours.

I'll tell you what though, I'm glad we *did* watch it - I was planning on catching it on Teleport replay, but it wasn't on it! I'd have been gutted if I hadn't insisted on watching it (Sonic Screwdriver in hand, no less!).

I hate the way the 'ITV' lovers always try and make the ratings for Corrie sound bigger than the ratings for Doctor Who. Both shows got around 9.4 million - but ITV claim that Coronation Street was the winner because it got '9.41' miilion! Oh la-di-da!
