I'm planning on buying the new video ipod and as the price is generally the same from all suppliers I'm deciding based on the insurance/service. Apparently Comet and Currys won't put ipod under their plans and was wondering where was the best place to get it?

I really want the insurance/cover to include theft as well as repairs...

I think Apple offer an extended warranty programme.

EDIT: Yes, they do

I imagine that title could cause problems

"My iPod is too far away for me to reach it - please send me a new one"

or

"My dog is sick, can I have a new iPod, please?"

Currys Whatever Happens will cover accidental and mechanical damage, but *not* theft, loss or battery (although if the battery failed I'd use the accidental cover ), and iPods can be covered - not sure why you were told it doesn't.

I have all my electrical equipment (LCD, Hifi etc) covered by Domestic & General, a 3rd party, established and well respected company that covers mechanical breakdown and accidental damange for very competitive rates. I am not 100% sure if they cover iPods, but they most probably do.

Why go with someone that has a terrible reputation for customer service like Currys, when you can have a company that specializes in insurance policies

The web address is www.domgen.co.uk

If you have personal possessions cover on your home contents insurance you will be covered for acidental damage, storm, theft, loss etc - the only thing that isnt covered is mechanical failure but then that is covered by the manufactures warrenty and the Sales of Goods Act between you and the retailer.

I know when I looked into laptop insurance a standalone policy was going to cost about £100 pa compared to my home insurance which is £150 and covers up to £2000 of personal possessions anywhere in the world and £75,000 for items in my property.
