anyone got a daewoo vcr? both our vcr and dvd are daewoo, and when you are recording, the time disappears from the front, and if you set a programme to timer record and decide to watch it instead, you can't stop it from recording. anyone else have this problem with daewoo? i know i wouldn't buy this brand again.

Both of those quirks can be overcome quite easily if you study the instruction manual.

i've read the user manual front front to back, and this is a drawback of the model we've got, and cannot be rectified. still, we use the dvd hdd recorder now, rather than the vcr, so no problem!

I doubt that very much.
Most modern VCRs show the clock when switched to standby, switching it on usually replaces the clock display by the "Program No" such as "PR01" for BBC1, "PR03" for ITV etc and inserting a tape usually replaces the "Program No" display by a "Tape Counter" display showing Hrs/Mins.

While a tape is inserted the display can usually be toggled to show the "Prog No" or "Time" by pushing a button on the remote labeled "Display" or similar.
Likewise if a timer event has been set and the recorder is making a timed recording and you want to cancel it you need to dis-engage the timer mode usually by a button marked timer...or the standby button.
Post the Daewoo model no and I'll tell you exactly how to do it.
