Possible HDD failure???

It all started one stormy night...well last night actually. Went to play all previous recordings and no sound but picture fine, my wife however watched a prog this morning with no probs. When I tried again later today, no sound initially and then no picture at all, just a green screen with what looks like an interference band about a 1/3rd of the way down it - ever since exactly the same.....no sound, picture, channels, recordings...the lot.

Powered down/up several times, YLD on for longer than normal but it does then go into standby. Switches on with green light but then nothing.

My box has got 'history'...bought initially from unbeatable who then when bust and has been back to Thomson twice - once when one of the tuners failed and again because they'd presumably given me a replacement box and hadn't reset the pin code All this in 8 months.....

One thing I have noticed is that the HDD doesn't seem to be as noisy now and, as I was planning to upgrade it, I wondered if I've suffered a known failure that someone may recognise

Typical isn't it...just looking forward to upgrading and really making use of it at Xmas

Any help much appreciated,

Dave

Green screen with interference bands aren't typical of the well-known faults with the Thomson.

Unfortunately it looks like a return to 'base'. You do seem to have been very unlucky.

Hmm...as I thought and feared. Thanks for the input Musukebba
