It would be a travesty if James were in final

Of all the couples left, I feel that only James and Camilla don't really deserve a place in the final. I don't have anything against this couple but surely they would be robbing a more accomplished couple of a deserved place if the public were to vote them through next weekend. I sincerely hope that those who pick up the phone next week will vote on dancing ability and performance alone and not because they feel sorry for or fancy James Martin.

I am no expert, have no favourites and don't mind who wins really. It would just be unfair for James to go through. They have all worked so hard and I know that the programme is about raising money for charity and entertaining us on a Saturday night, but we need to send the best dancers into the final.

and for them to push zoe and ian into the bottom two was a disgrace!!

Hi miaviv! Don't think I've said welcome to the forum yet. I don't agree with the title of this thread and was prepared to come away from it feeling annoyed but the content of your post does rung true with me. You put it almost exactly as I would except for the "travesty" part of your title. A travesty is if someone got through purely on fan appeal - with no talent, effort, improvement or entertainment value - James does not fall into this category for me.

James is not a bad dancer. He's improved lots and is great in the ballroom - you can't argue that the other 3 couples are better skill-wise - and yes there is nothing really wrong with voting for James because you genuinely want to watch them on a Saturday night more than everyone else. But in my heart I hope that fans maybe realise that, yes, it's better to vote for him while a similar standard couple are still in (e.g. A&P) but that now, for them to knock out one of the other three, even James himself would feel awkward about it and to be honest, it's really ok if he doesn't make the final as there'll only be one week left, we see ALL the couples dance again on final night, and he'd be chuffed to make the semis.

I'm hoping for the top 3 in the final, and after that I don't mind who wins

Just - it won't be a travesty - if it isn't like that.

If James was to dance better than Zoe, Colin or Darren on the night then yes he deserves his place in the final. If he doesn't and still get there I would be disappointed.

Since Saturday, I have noticed a huge increase in threads saying how people should vote for the best dancers and performers on the night and not vote during the week - and then these same people are urging others not to vote for James. But Saturday night hasn't even come yet! I know it's highly unlikely that James will score higher than the other three, but keep an open mind until the night!

By all means say who you want people to vote for, but to start campaigns to stop people voting for someone is a bit harsh (and I'm not saying this is one such thread, am referring to other posts).

*runs off thread to avoid backlash *

Can I disagree with you, I feel that the final three should be Zoe, Colin and Darren, without any exception because those three have all been consistently better than the rest. Colin and Zoe, have been ahead of everyone else from the first week and Darren has made far greater inprovements than James has throughout.

To warrant any other scenario James has got dance better than anyone ever has and one of the other couples have a complete mess up of both dances and call into question Len's parentage to deserve the push.

Unlike previous years the top three have been become very evident by this time and I think the top three consistently better performances have earned them the right to be in the final. I wish it were otherwise cos either SCD this week will be predictable or I shall be upset that a deserving couple have been pushed out.

why cant james be in the final everyone is saying he shouldbe be there bit he has the same chances as everyone eles to be in the final

In full agreement with Shappy.

I find it hypocritical to say the least. That the same people who were complaining about the result this week, saying that people should vote for the best performances on the night and not just their personal favourite. Are already deciding who deserves to be there for the final.

I dont want to start any argueing, i'm just expressing my opinion.

if everyone is annoyed that pasty and Anton going out then did they vote for them to stay in or thing someone ele will win

Fair point guys, personally I've never complained about the result nor urged anyone to do anything, I just hope for a certain result because by this stage, even one good performance can't outweigh all the these weeks of proven skill ability and entertainment

I was very supised that zoe and Ian were in the bottom two so you dont know who will be in the final

Please, disagree away!

I can totally see what you're getting at there and, to be honest, I agree with your sentiments. I think my point seems to be more along the lines of IF James dances amazingly on Saturday and gets through to the final then I will think 'oh well, he did put on a good performance, good on him. Shame about so-and-so screwing up'. If however he is clearly the weakest dancer then I shall be disappointed if he gets through. The fact that someone is good looking (allegedly ) doesn't really seem like a fair reason to vote them in over talent. James hasn't really shown huge improvement - he was alright to start with, he's a bit better now - especially in comparison to Darren. Besides, it just wouldn't make for such an exciting final - based on talent Zoe, Colin or Darren could win!

”

Absolutely, in my opinion, correct. Colin will almost certainly win and Zoe may snatch silver. Darren has been a real sport and deserves to be in the final.

James, on the other hand, has a HUGE website fan club, all female no doubt, and has benefitted from their loyal support of HIM, not of his dancing (IMO).

I would personally like to see Zoe and Ian and Colin and Erin and Darren and Lilia in the final and I think that people should vote for the best dancers. But thats just how I feel and I certainly understand why lots of people will vote for James and Camilla and they certainly don't have to listen to me (or anyone else) if thats what they want to do. And it is true that J and C have done some charming things and are delicious to watch so I doubt that I will be heartbroken if they end up in the final. And, as someone has pointed out earlier in this thread, we still have the dances to see on Saturday night and part of the thrill of the programme is that someone can always pull a rabbit out of the hat in the semis and surprise us.

Part of why we all love this programme so much is that it engenders such strong passions and loyalties. Sometimes we disagree, sometimes we get on one another's nerves, sometimes someone gets too nasty or, alternately, too prescriptive and it annoys the hell out of those who hate sarcasm or those who hate being told what to do or think. But it is all part of life's rich tapestry.

I think it is going to be a great semi and a great final. Roll on Saturday.

I will be disappointed* if James get into the final, but c'est la vie etc. Public participation helps to make SCD what it is, and you have you put up with the drawbacks as well as the benefits.

*(I always try to keep an open mind etc., but I think the chances of James' quality of dancing leapfrogging over the other three are very slim)

compared to who is left it would be a travesty
darren, colin and zoe are far better
so james should NOT be in the final
and i think he shoud have gone on saturday!!!!
but i just hope he goes this week because i love the others more than i love him!!!!

Afraid I agree with the original post. I started watching this year with no bias for or against any couple, but the celebrities who have impressed me most have been Colin, Zoe and Darren. Colin's talent, Zoe's natural grace and Darren's sheer ability and determination. All of these have made them the best three celebrities on show, and if they continue to produce the same kind of form for the coming weekend, then it would indeed be a travesty if someone without the same overall level of ability as these three ends up in the final.

But that's what happens - you have someone who is popular with the public (who phone and vote and thus give the show it's reason for being!) and they go through - was it fair that Anton and Lesley went out in series one over Chris Parker or that Lilia and Aled went out last year over Erin and Julian (on a personal note, however, I would be so sorry for Lilia if it were to happen to her twice on the bounce!) - it's just what happens!

Yes, that's what happens. We get governments that way, too, but it does not make any any more riight.

Remember its about personal improvment aswell as how good you are compared to everyone else. James was much better than his first week. He wont win but he has worked just as hard as everyone else. If he had been sitting on his bum all week then yeah, id say he didnt deserve it, but he has been putting in the hours just like everyone else. I believe he has greatly improved since week one.

GO JAMES!!!

Yeah, but the difference between general elections and SCD is that people actually bother to vote for SCD!

It should be on the BEST dancers!! and to be honest its getting on my nerves now!! every time someone is at the bottom, viewers feel sorry for them and vote for them!! there is a reason tehy are at the bottom!! prob cause they were rubbish!!

I loved fiona and brendan!! but she couldnt improve, and soon as she was off the bottom she went!! all couples that have gone have been usually second from bottom!!

pls viewers make sure its a decent final!!

zoe and ian
colin and erin
darren and lillia

how many people would be gutted if one of the top dancers went out because people were sympathy voting for james!!!???

t care
