I hope they can get a new, stable, tested release ready in time. I assume it needs to be delivered some time ahead of broadcast for internal testing by the DTG. I think Nigel posted that Topfield engineers arrived in the UK recently. I wonder if there will be time for a public update file release prior to the OTA broadcast.

The dates have been known for some time and yes, it means that the testing is already under way, complete with a fairly comprehensive test scheme.

The DTG will get the file a week before the broadcast. I'll have more news later in the week.

I know the dates have been available for sometime, but this is the first indication to some that an OTA is planned.

Lets hope the testing is a bit more thorough then some of the previous releases.

The testing is certainly more thorough, and methodical. The beta testers (and some lucky souls who've been checking out the alpha) are working with a test script, which you can download from the Guides area of the Toppy web site.

It's the first time we've used it, so we'll probably tweak it later, but it does cover most of the possibilities for things like dual record, play back, overlapping recordings, part time channels, and so forth.

Nigel will the update install automatically with the box in stand-by and is there a list anywhere of the things it will cover such as major and minor bugs?

I'm afraid at the moment the answer to both those is that I'm not sure.

I'm trying to find out more information about how exactly the update works OTA.

As for features/fixes, I'm presently testing an early version, but it's likely to change before the release, so I'd rather not say what changes there are in this one, since not everything may be there in the release version.

As soon as I do have more information, there'll be plenty of updates on Toppy.org.uk
