In a report published this morning it has been revealed that contestants in the popular *Big Brother* tv show may not be acting or behaving as they might in the *real* world.
The damning report goes on to suggest that contestants may even resort to saying things they don't really believe or think, in a desperate attempt to *fool* other contestants into liking them.
Channel 4 however denied that such tactics were in fact breaking any of the rules, pointing out that the very fact that contestants have to nominate fellow housemates, and yet be seen to be getting on with them, will inevitably lead to what appears to be two-faced behaviour, and cannot be avoided. The channel went on to deny rumours that they were in some way controlling what went on in the house.
An anonymous Big Brother fan has pointed out that contestant Jonny Regan has previously appeared in the likes of *Byker Grove*, and so has been *acting* all through the show, and therefore cheating. Again Channel 4 squirmed when we put this to them - *Jonny is simply playing up his better characteristics - making the most of his likeable northern accent, and general larking around. He's just trying to portray himself to the tv viewing public as a likeable Geordie. There is nothing in the rules to say he isn't allowed to do this. In fact, despite a lack of acting credentials with the other contestants, it doesn't mean they won't be applying similar tactics.*
The report concludes by pointing out that it is just a gameshow, and suggests that there is growing concern, not of the contestants psychological state, but that of text-alert obsessed fans of the show, who are redefining the definition of *obsession*.
