Neighbours or Home & Away ?
That was a trick question of course.
They are exactly the same, here : Karl helps Janae, gets accused of abusing her. Sally helps Diesel, gets accused of abusing him. Janae almost gets date raped. Matilda almost gets date raped. Izzy Josie/Angie And also, the evil corporation that wants to redevelop the area, an aryan cast.... |

You're right.
It's all a bit complicated really. Neighbours is storylined by the story team, and then the freelance scriptwriters write the episodes. Those same scriptwriters work on Home and Away as storyliners. Neighbours lead time to air is alot longer than H & A. So it does seem as if a few stories have leaked from the Neighbours department over to H & A, then it looks like H & A got there first because of a shorter lead time. Saying that, all soaps tend to have similar storylines/characters when they have worked in another soap, so it's par for the course I guess. Plus both shows do some stories better than the other. |

I don't like Home and Away these days much, it seems to concentrate too much on the younger characters whereas Neighbours has a good balance of age ranges. Also Home and Away seems to only have about 3 different storylines
1. Someone being stalked 2. Someone getting cancer 3. Someone going missing. |

How many English kids would have their school and outside lives mixing with their teachers as Aussie soap kids kids seem to.
Ramsay Street has not been without a teacher in the street for years. It is surely a street for professionals. Doctors find it desireable too. H&A has Sally and Flynn. I think it would be quite difficult to keep a professional distance living so close in the community. |

Neighbours has always been one above H&A anyway though, I cant say I've watched H&A regularly since the Angel & Shane years due to the fact recent characters have been so lame/talentless.

Home & Away is far better than dull Neighbours, the storylines are more interesting (even if they are the same) & better acted. The characters are lot more likable even the "baddies"

I am 35 and watched Neighbours and Home & Away from the start......... I gave up watching both many years ago....... Just recently I, like some crack addicted slut, was drawn back to Neighbours by the delightful Annalise's 20 year anniversary special.... I am now addicted again and love Paul abd Joe from the old days and think that Jannae has lovely breasts...........

Neighbours is great.
Home and Away is like a slightly over the top 'Jackie Photo Love story', obsessed with whinging teens. |

Stalker hell for Carmella Stalker hell for the bay Irene is being drugged up Izzy is being drugged up by Elle Plane crash in H & A Plane crash for Neighbours Neighbours welcome old cast back... So h & a welcome old cast back for Alf's bday, but cant resist to kill one off Steph and Haley are both pregnant, but Steph is haviung a realistic one, something home and away have never had due to the fact there is always a complicxation for the pregnant mother invovling danger to their life or the childs! |

Neighbours is very middle class on the whole. Home and Away seems to have more waifs and strays. And why is Neighbours all white? H & A I can understand, small town etc, but Erinsborough is a suburb of Melbourne which is a very multicultural city. There should at least be a Greek or Italian family on the street; I can only remember the Alessis.

I watch these soaps because of the stroyline's and characters, not for someone's body.
At the moment I prefer Home and away, the Timmins on Neighbours apart from Bree and Stingray are spoling the show.

I honestly didn't realise anyone still actually watched Home and Away! I gave up on it years ago, too teeny bopper orientated for my liking and if I wanted to to look at perfect teens I'd watch Hollyoaks.
Home and Away has always been the poor relation of Neighbours. |
