Hitachi DVD/VCR combo faulty
Hi,
Last year on 31st October 2004, I bought the Hitachi DVD/VCR combo from Argos and suddenly on 2nd November 2005, the DVD module stopped to function and I phoned the Hitachi technical helpline and I was told that they can not do any thing about since it was out of 12 months warranty and I was told to contact, independent repair centre to have it repaired out of my own pocket. I have used the Hitachi DVD/VCR combo for very short period of time and the DVD module stopped working and the VCR module is working perfectly. Can I demand Hitachi to repair the DVD/VCR combo under the ‘Sale of Goods Act/Faulty Goods’? Since this Hitachi DVD/VCR combo did not last very long. Thanks. |

My advice to you is take it back to Argos with the box and the receipt and give a try at getting a replacement.
Go on about the 12 month warranty but don't state that it's up, just that you feel the product should have lasted longer than a year. It's worth chancing your arm with this one, they have been known to exchange items after much longer. |
