Jades philosophy
metafis

'You hear me by my mouth, you don't see me by my hair'.

Thats quite profound really...I think it means 'Don't judge people on appearances'.

or maybe its like that Peter Sellers film(cant remember the title), where innocent phrases he said were interpreted as having mystical and wise meanings.
he wás a gardener who would say things like 'to get a good healthy plant you have to tend to the shoots.' meaning just that, but the media would intepret it as some wise saying regarding the human condition.

what do you think?

(please, not an excuse for Jade bashing, ta, I'm just interested as to whever you think she does have hidden depths, or is just innocent of what she is saying?.)

You’re attributing profundity to the person who couldn’t tell the difference between sun and shade? My own personal feelings about this person aside, I don’t think Jade has ever once engaged her brain before opening her mouth. It’s almost like Tourette’s syndrome except instead of profanity, we get nonsense and gibberish. So no, I don’t think she has "hidden depths".

The Peter Sellers movie was "Being There" BTW.

I think that Jade does have hidden depths. I certainly don't think that the girl is thick, just undereducated. Many people who didn't pay attention at school, or who didn't go, come across as being thick because their general knowledge is rubbish. I'm not saying that she is a genius, or anywhere close, just that I think she will learn more.

I think some of the wisest sayings do come out of blatant simplicity! I think Jade managed to unknowingly stumble on something here that coincidentally made some vague form of sense. That's not Jade bashing, it's just clear that she's not an intellectual.

That was one of the funniest moments so far - as Alex calmly had to explain to Jade what shade was by putting his hand over her face!

special hat..
I sort of agree with that, although I think she WAS trying to say something along the lines of 'dont juge by appearances'', in her own way, and, as you say, not being 'an intellectual' its comes out in a mix of metaphors.I think the phrase 'out of the mouths of babes' is probably appropriate here.

I like Jade now, I dont a few weeks back, but she does seem to be attempting to be a 'better' person, which is all we can ask of anyone really.

LOL I must admit she does come out with some hysterically stupid things. - many of which have had me laughing for days ("but isn't Cambridge in London?!!), But I don't think that she is any worse than Helen last year.

Monkeys and typewriters seems a tad more appropriate, although Jade would probably think Shakespeare is part of the extended Heinstein/Sherlock Holmes/Inspector Morse family.

Any reply is bound to look like Jade-bashing if anyone uses an example of her behaviour in the house by way of illustration

She really is a most interesting individual ... not in the sense that she has much of any interest to say ... just in that you listen to her and think "My God ... how did she come to be like this?"

If only she wasn't so loud (her fault) and didn't speak such foul English (I admit ... not entirely her fault) then I'd have agreed with the argument a couple of weeks back to keep her in the house for entertainment value. As it is, whenever she appears I have flashbacks to scary episodes of Doctor Who and have to hide behind a cushion.

BBG ... wishing all the housemates weren't so cartoonish
