What equipment for sky hdtv
prop

Hi

I am thinking about taking up the sky offer for sky+ my concern is that I would have to replace the box to recieve hdtv in the "near future".

Does anyone know if the box will have to be replaced?

You will need to replace the box with the new Sky HD box, but it might be offered to you at a lower price.

I remember before Sky+ was released, it was offered to existing subscribers at approx. £100 less then new subscribers.

I was thinking the same as you, but as I was a previous subscriber who cancelled, the offer to re-join is somewhat different.

Plus their top package is working out a little to expensive for me, I can't beleive people actually pay that much for TV! I'm gonna try to hang it out until the release the new box, I think it'll be in March sometime?

Let's just hope it's a reasonable price, otherwise I might just wait for a while for them to drop the price, like they did with Sky+! As I don't even have a HD TV yet!

With the delay in prices from Sky I'm thinking that the equipement you'll need will be:

1) very good eyesight
2) understanding partner who can do without
3) big wallet

You would need for Sky HD
A new receiver
At least 48" 1080 line TV (ideally a projector).

You can see what HDTV satellite is like today FTA, but it isn't cheap.

If you can't see clearly the lines of the 576 line picture now, then you will see very little improvement on HD.

It is a bigger issue in Japan and USA as they have much bigger TVs and only 480 line regular TV.

You will see a significant improvement on a 720p panel of reasonable size (32-inch or so).

If you can clearly see the lines on a conventional CRT set, I would suggest it is not set up right.

HD looks better than SD at any resolution
