Is Alex behaving like a child

He knows he's been nominated by the other 3 and will probably be left in there with them... He's now completely seperated himself from everyone and been very moody.

I'm sure Kates choice for her final 5 wouldn't have been the way that it's turned out with the excpetion of Jonny, but she tried to get on with the people, because (1) it makes it easier for herself and (2) it makes it easier for other people. This is actually a sign of maturity - to be able to get on with people despite your differences.

Why does Alex have such a problem being able to do this? Is it because he thinks he may be looked at as false if he tries to get on with people we know he doesn't really like? I've always quite liked Alex, but I really find the way he's been recently to be quite childish.

Helen was nominated by Brian last year in the last vote, when she probably got on better with Brian than Brian did Elizabeth - she had no qualms with this, and just got on with it - she was like a child, yet for some reason able to show far greater maturity than Alex who claims to be intelligent.

I've always been fair to Alex, and have defended him in some posts despite my preference for others - but I do think he's been unfair recently.

yes he's being childish. He takes the mick out of the other housemates for being so childish and pretends to be this mature intellectual wise man. He's a model for Christ's sake, his head is up his ass, and he's acting like a spoilt brat. At least Tim has got the decency to just get on with the people he doesn't like for the sake of keeping the peace.

Alex moved his sun lounger away from everyone else in the group. haha what a little woman. Get rid of him.

NO, he is not being childish.

HE IS SIMPLY TRYING TO COPE BEING INCARCERATED WITH JONNY AND JADE who are doing his head in every minute he is in their proximity, and I sympathise. Tim is the only one making the situation bearable. Have you ever ever worked for or with someone you really hated? At least you get away for a night - Alex is stuck with them 24/7. Jade is loudly singing 'Like a Virgin' and both Alex and I are squirming and thinking 'shut up you stupid rubbish!!!!'... WHY IS JADE STILL IN THERE????? Perlease! Hang on in there Alex, the £70,000 is nearly yours.

Whenever someone tries to talk to Alex and find out what the problems are he actually behaves a little like Jade, in that he completely ignores what's being said and ends up snapping at people...

When jonny wanted to make things up after the weegate thing - he didn't really want to know.

And when Kate just came out and asked him what his problem with her was, he told her to get lost and then even smirked as she walked away.

I've liked Alex all the way up until these last few days... I've always thought he was a little weak, but understood that everyone in there has their faults - but his behaviour recently is just pathetic quite frankly.

He can make up excuses about how he's got nothing in common with anyone - but I'll keep bringing up that the one person he seemed to enjoy the conversation with the most, was Kate, when talking about Japan.

I can't see why anyone would expect Alex to enter in debates with them. He learnt quickly into the experience that like all pople (himself included) what they say to your face and behind your back are two different things.

There's nowhere to escape to, so whatever route you take you are damned, damned if you talk to them (as it will just continue to spiral), damned if you tolerate them (Jonny has an inate fear of the word toleration and others will brand you fairweather), damned if you set yourself aside (your making yourself distant and being unsociable).

Whatever conversations he has with Kate and Jonny they will huddle in a corner and dissect it.

Alex is the only one to have it sussed in there - the intelligent life form are the chickens

But how often have we seen this written along the lines of "Tim is such a 2-faced w**ker". I tend to agree though that Alex is acting a bit OTT at the moment - but at the moment I'm still prepared to give him the benefit of the doubt - because at least he has recognised his behaviour - even if that doesn't entirely excuse it.

I think even Jade shows more maturity at times than Alex, he runs around and huffs and puffs, where Jade knows the majority of the people in the House wish she wasn't there, but she just gets on with it and tries to get along and have fun.

If by behaving like this is his 'honest' way of avoiding conflicts, why should be put on an act and pretend that everything is Ok, just to please the viewers and Ms Kate and Mr Jonny?

He's not avoiding conflicts though, he's creating new ones.

Would this be the same Jade that Alex took to rich side 2 weeks running?

Oh I forgot, he was only obeying orders from Gruppen-fuhress Adele.

Poppy has a stroppy cos he's run out of allies, simple as.

Did Alex really think he'd get on with everyone in the house? I reckon you' dbe hard pushed to find 11 other people who could put up with him

I personally think that Alex is behaving very poorly indeed. He reccognises he is behaving badly but doesn't do anything to curb his bad behaviour.

Everyone is having a go at Jonny and Kate for "Play Acting" but I doubt most people would be any different in the same situation. Tim would be rather playing tennis - the thing is he can't. The others are making the best of a very difficult situation and I really don't think that Alex and Tim are even trying. I am older than Jonny and would have a game of hide and seek, tag, towel or pillow fighting if it meant assurging the boredom.

Alex has shown signs of immaturity throughout BB, in the fact that he has always listened to others and been influcenced by them. First Sandy, then Adele and now Tim. Before that I doubt he has many opinions of his own, other than those of his parents. I am guessing this only from the amount of times he mentions them and what they think.

Alex should let himself go a little bit and try having fun. OK - fun in the outside world would be completely different, but fun inside the BB house is restricted to what you make it.

I've always had time for Alex but just recently I have very different views and if he had been up against anyone else, even Jade, he would have had to go. As it is, Tim is only just ahead as far as I am concerned.

I follow your argument...but Alex HAS shown he can have "fun" along the juvenile games you mention - initiating pillow fights, flour/pasta fights, peek-a-boo pranks on Adele and Jade, etc.

It's not that he doesn't want to have fun, the point is it depends on the company you have. Would you be comfortable playing games and putting on a *happy-happy* facade with people who dislike you (and vice-versa)? It would not be natural and would, rightly, come across as false or (to use a favourite buzzword beloved of many posters) "two-faced"

OK maybe Jonny and Kate's games could get annoying 24/7 but if I was in that same situation I would be doing exactly the same - the boredom must be terrible. Alex doesn't seem to be able to have fun - he rarely takes part in the games and its no coincidence that when he does take part he has to drink first - he even commented to Tim earlier that he would have to have a drink before the party tonite, implying that that is the only way he could gt through it.

He has no right to judge anyone on the basis of being 2-faced, he particpated in it with Sandy and Adele (possibly the 2 worst offenders of the whole series) yet never commented to them how 2-faced they were being - seems its only people saying things about him he has the problem with.

He's not making things any better for himself. I understand it may be a bit awkward spending time with Kate/Jonny/Jade when you know they have nominated you but what did he expect? It gets hard when they are so few people to nominate - they didn't nominate him because they hate him. It doesnt take much just to spend a couple of hours chatting to people - we have all been in the situation where you have to spend time with people we really dont get on with but most of us just get on with it.

Yes he is extreamly immature, this is the guy who sulked for weeks becuase someone weeded in the shower once!! i thought what jonney did was disgusting too, however once jonney said he was sorry and wouldn't do it agian, why hold a grudge against him. Most people in life come across people they doen't get on with but they don't sulk the way alex does, you deal with thats life, not everyone is going to be your cup of tea...this is something most adults understand...

11 people! 1 would be a challenge. Tim doesn’t count as he barely rates higher than an amoeba on the evolutionary scale.

Sorry ranting about tim again, I start typing with the idea of saying “well said Noodle, couldn’t agree more” and my subconscious mind takes over start to slag off the ignorant t*at, there I go again will someone please recommend a good therapist. :

Alex took part in the 'fun' on a regular basis but it seems now that just as he is about to let his hair down he puts himself into check maybe thinking 'No I'd better not because it might be seen as childish and stupid' something that Tim doesn't agree with.

Yes, I do think Alex is childish the way he sulks, holds grudges., deliberately isolates himself from hm's..he's spiteful, vindictive...etc...etc. he craves attention, negative or positive, doesn't matter as long as the focus of everyones attention is on him.

As for people excusing his behaviour saying 'It's very difficult for him living with people he knows don't like him' I'm not buying it!

The other hm's also know he dosen't like them, yet they manage to live with him and just get on with the show ....trying to have a bit of fun along the way.
In the final analysis, Alex is not a 4 year old child, he's a 23 year old man who behaves like a 4 year old.

Alex behaves the way he thinks whoever is his 'friend' at the time would like him to behave.
He only ,in my opinion, acts himself when he has alcohol on board (in vino veritas) and flirts with kate, has fun and mucks about
he cant do this at the moment becasue timmy frowns upon this behaviour.
Its quite sad really, as alex himself almost admitted to adele......i dont see things until someone points them out to me ie he has no opinion of his own, at least one he is willing to share, until he gets the go ahead from another
