Is this the evolution of Media broadcasting

A few days ago i posted in the DTT freeview forums about the idea of using freeview with satellite to increase the access to viewers. Not what is technically possible but what do users really want is what im trying to get at . below are my silly impossibly mutterings but i hope they might start a discussion on the present state of affairs for Joe Public . Please read it all and think before you cut me with your words ..
I was Simply having a Mad idea day abit back and wondering that since Itv and BBC are launching a satellite service couldnt they do a simple device that a freeview box could be pluged into and enable their service to be used by the freeview box .
ie the freeview box would just see it as a aerial source . This would instantly give their service a large user base , increase the availability of freeview countrywide and any additional stations could either be freeview compatible or require a higher specification box .
Please dont just dismiss this as a Mad impossibly idea, instead why dont we discuss it , run with it as far as we can go and even see if we can work out if and how it could be done . Well you upto the challenge tech heads ?

What do you want from Tv
Do you wish to have a mountain of access boxs , a mirriad of scart cables and power plugs. How many remote controls is enough.
Televison is about viewing media, not as a means to use viewers as broadcating equipment guinea pigs.
Are we back to the old Vhs or Betamax days where viewers had to risk their money on which standard would prevail !
Ondigital or Sky ! ring a bell for anyone.
The more i think or dream on this the more I wonder if im making the case for the Multimedia Pc. A home entertainment system able to record , play , view , compose , educate , broadcast from one unit.
Let Media broadcasters broadcast media and let the user decide how , when , where and why he views it .
Where will the Media evolution take us?
To a melting off Xbox to Multimedia Pc . Multi connective to modem, cable, broadband , DTT, Satellite , Mobile , Dab , Dvd and Dvd Recorder , Game station, mouse and keyboard, home appliances .
Or will Apple steal the lead with a Apple HomePod. a digital portal to the Media broadcasters content. with over-night broadcast of News papers to your Harddrive. A self selection of editorial content . You own broadcast platform for your Band, your book or political thoughts , views , your own media content .
How many new unthought of digital beasts / brands will evolve and die after consuming viewers loyalty and money .
fracturing the herds of viewers and causing them to retreat to safe secure known viewing platforms / terrotries before the need for a unified approach bares fruit
