Guilty Pleasures - songs you like but 'shouldn't'

I'm going to put my hand up and admit I like Justin Timberlake's 'I'm Lovin' It' - that's right, as in the McDonald's song.

I'm a fan of his and the Neptunes as well and as far as I am concerned, together they can do no wrong. However when I play this tune it's strictly headphones only - it's far too embarrasing to air in public!

I should add my musical tastes are usually a bit more hardcore, but a bit of fromage is GRATE.

There's no songs that people should be ashamed of enjoying listening too - different songs for different reasons!

I've got Toto on my ipod. I have to hide it when people at work ask to see my playlists.

Love 'Dancing on the Celing' by the muzzle faced Ritchie too. And 'Celebrate' by Kool and the Gang is my favourite song ever. I've asked that should anything happen to me I want it at my funeral.

Bingo.

The only thing that determines whether you 'should' like a song is if it sounds good to you or not.

I have a secret love for:

'she's a maniac' from flashdance
'how am i supposed to live without you' by Michael Bolton

in fact i'm going through a secret micheal bolton phase at the moment which i'm highly ashamed of! ALthough I play it at home on the grounds that my housemate listens to Dolly Parton!

Lol - i have one of his albums too, and used to love playing it.

I dont know if anyone is like me, but on a weekend i love having 'blasts from the past' music. I turn on the record player and get the vinyl out and play all my 80's naff stuff.

This title does not sound right to me. Don't you mean -

Songs you like but not cool to admit that you do.

or

Songs you feel embarrased to admit that you like.

i think thats why "shouldnt" is in inverted commas, because its widely accepted that if its not cool you shouldnt listen to them, but its not the belief of the poster..i could be wrong though.

I think it was all the kids who bought the ringtone and got ripped off! never underestimate the power of the under 16 market, I used to work in HMV and they were the main buyers! As a music lover it was really depressing.

alot of my faves from my teeny bopper days in the 90s still make me smile if mtv suddenly show them, although the names of the shows they appear in are things like "worst 90s songs" etc. i like vengaboys, steps, b*witched, bsboys, 911, 5ive was ok, that sorta thing.

*runs and hides*

None of these are songs to be ashamed of liking

Now Demis Roussos would be something to blush over liking

and no it's not my guilty pleasure lol

Some oldies that are a bit dodgy can become cool again with a bit of remixing

My guilty pleasure is pop music from the 1970s - a lot of which is sampled in today's music
