Just thinking about the Christmas Doctor who and if it will ever become like as Traditinal at christmas as Only fools and horses was for many years.. and i think it very well could be! but i think it will take a few years for it to reach the 'as Traditinal as the turkey at christmas' stage... I think if the BBC Have a christmas special on christamas day next year then the year after we may be looking at it being the most watched show at christmas time! i thik this year Doctor who will be around 3rd Most Watched show..

Next year's christmas special (and the one after that, I think) is already confirmed, so you could be right.

Three consecutive years won't make for a "tradition", but it's nice to know that more are definitely planned.

I make my own traditions (don't we all?) and in my house it will be traditional (nay, mandatory ) to watch the christmas specials - along with any other episodes as they crop up.

Don't think they've picked up a 2007 special yet, that'd be part of season 4/30, which as far as I know, hasn't been commisioned yet.

Would be nice if a longer than average episode on Christmas Day became the norm, hope it doesn't get to where Only Fools was by the end (1 episode a year), I need more Doctor Who than that.

Hope it doesn't get a longer episode at Christmas or hope it doesn't end up as one episode a year? Can you clarify please?

I was also a bit confused by the poster's response, but I took it to refer to the OP since no-one was quoted in the reply.

Don't you just love those high on opinion but short on content/discussion posts

So come on then Sizzle, what would you like to see in its place?

Something constructive would have been nice.

Luckily for you, the BBC will have a second TV channel by then so you're not locked into watching BBC1!

I would like a 2-hour Doctor Who special instead of a big Hollywood film. These days, they 'premier' a film a few weeks after it's been shown repeatedly on Sky, which is a few weeks after they release the DVD, which is a few weeks after it's been in the cinema, which is about 3 years since they started showing the trailers. The big Holywood film is no longer special at Christmas, but brand new big-budget TV films like Dr Who would be.

Or even a festive Spooks or Hussle, where they run a Christmas con or have to stop some suicide santas!
