What really annoys me is the inconsistency of the comments from the judges. It was fairly obvious to me back when we had Nicholas in the competition - they loved him even though his performances got steadily worse and worse. His flat singing wasn't mentioned until the week they decided they wanted him out.
Shayne and Journey South have received similar praise although their performances have been just as up and down as Andy's. I would say that Brenda is probably the one who hasn't really wobbled (although I wasn't madly keen on her version of Without You last night to be honest). I thought 'Let It Be' was terrible last night, as was 'Living on a Prayer' - yet all we've had is the judges saying "you deserve to be in the final blah blah blah". Same with Shayne - it'd be easier for me to list his good performances (and last night he was good), but every week he gets praised, even when he murdered "a meeeeeeeeeeelion love songs". That is what turns me against them, when actually , if their criticisms had been a little more objective, I would probably like both acts a hell of a lot more than I do.
I think Journey South have really deteriorated over the last couple of weeks - they were my favourites for a while but they seem to be coasting now. Shayne has improved a little but still needs some vocal training if he is going to be a great performer. Then again, I suppose things can be ironed out in a studio and he can mime on the kiddy shows so who cares!
