Am I right to think that a CRT would have no problem in up/down scaling of resolution, Cause computer CRTs can display any much any resolution without ill effects compared to LCDs where if it 's not at the native resolution, it looks really bad.

That'd be a shame cause the market is moving away from CRTs and there's not much chance of seeing CRT HD sets in the UK

I'd happily use a computer screen, only that it goes to 20 something inch only and crts monitors with DVI are hard to come by, and once HDMi content protection is mandatory game's over.

CRTs are as good as history. LCDs are a lot cheaper to produce now, take up smaller amounts of room and are easier to dispose of.

I dont think we will see many HD CRTs over here in the future.

CRTs are _still_ the benchmark in terms of image quality.

Size is an issue though - the screen's are too small while the backs are too deep!

Cheers,
David.

If SED technology is as good as people make out to be then CRTs will not be around for longer!.

If people does take time to mount plasmas up on a wall and plastering all the cables under, it's not that much more of an effort to hide a CRT in the fireplace or something, granted, cooling will be a bit of an issue, besides when you have a thin-screen in a corner, the amount of room taken up will be the same, or when there's a stand that'll accommodate DVDs and set top boxes, the footprint will be very similar to crts

One problem though, I haven't seen any CRT with HDMI or DVI, unless it's a computer screen

There are loads, just not in the UK, seems that all the major players decided that the EU could bear the cost of LCD's while everyone had the option of a crt hd tv which is both superior in quality, outputs to 1080P AND is cheaper.

Examples:

PRIMA HT3061P

Sony XBR KD-34XBR960

Just trying to find out if I use it as a monitor will it output SKY Digital ok [ntsc]
