Great! Let's have one alien invasion of London after another all within the space of a few months and let's centre them all around a flat on a housing estate and some politicians.

So you've written it off after a 30-second trail?

Let's just say, so far it ain't scoring high for originality!

Just hope someone reminds the Doc this season that he is capable of travelling absolutely anywhere in the Universe - he doesn't really have to spend all his time hanging around London / Cardiff council estates.

People are getting really tetchy about this one being set in London, present day, again! Well, for this particular story it is the correct setting. I want to see an invasion in the present day. You forget that the story last season was really about a fake invasion, and the incident was covered up as a hoax by the government. This time, it's real.

During the Pertwee era (which was the best IMO) there were different alien invasions of present day Earth every week and it wasn't a huge problem.

I don't really see why it should be a problem.

It's a christmas special and it's not guaranteed that other planets would celebrate christmas on the same day that earth does so it seems fitting that the special would be set on earth.

Not only that, but the trailer looks flipping amazing. I get goose-bumps every time I watch it (and I've seen it many times.)

Hopefully, series 2 will take us to some new alien environments, but for the christmas special I'm happy it's set on earth.

Mid season 2 is the first time they go to a new planet apparantly.

I was going to say "sad old git" but unfortunately I think I'm slightly in the lead there!

When the civillian advisor say's "You will surrender, or they will die." he sounds a bit like Blair. Or am I being daft?

I got a few little chills watching that then... Big Ben with the scaffolding up it looks amazing and links in well. The bit with the TARDIS crashing looks fabulous... even the bins falling too early can be forgiven!! David Tennant looks like he's going to be really good... his facial expression as he opens the TARDIS door is brilliant. Having friends over to watch on Christmas Day... just so I'm not the only sad one counting down the hours!!

Wow, thanks for putting that up.

I love the shot of the craft going over Big Ben with the statue of Churchill in the foreground - the man who dealt with a different threat of invasion.

Nice plug for Doctor Who in Eastie's tonight. (Darren and his girlfriend bunking off to watch the Doctor Who video.)

If anyone was in any doubt that Doctor Who is cool once again, Eastenders will help convince the younger (and older!) population otherwise.

Quite right too!

Completely agree! Would like to see a few more alien worlds...like the Forest of Cheam race which I thought were excellent in EOTW...but there there is a more sinister egde when the threat does come to Earth. Pertwee once said he found the idea far more scaryof finding a Yeti on your loo than visiting alien planets. A few more historical/period stories would be welcome which we seem to be getting in series two.

Naughty Easties for shamelessly plugging another BBC brand!

If I admit to being old, will that allow me to see The Christmas Invasion any sooner than Christmas day?

Or would sulking help?

In this case, I thoroughly approve - as I did last time.

I don't really watch it anymore, but anything that gets the kids watching on Christmas Day is good for me... after all it is for the kids... *ahem*

Nah - I've tried that. The only option is to wait ... unless it gets leaked like Rose of course!

He steps out of the tardis and appears to be completely bonkers. As I said before - fantastic!

I'm assuming he's playing it this way because of the regeneration problems, but I got quite a bit of Pat Troughton's essence coming through in his three brief appearances to date.

He does seem very similar to Patrick Troughton's Doctor... not seen too many of his stories to be honest though. I love the idea of regeneration trouble though.

And obviously this is a good thing. I hope he doesn't spend too much time in bed in this story.

Oh, absolutely!

I thought Pat was a brilliant Doctor - if really hard pressed, I'd say he's my favourite so far. (Although that seems unfair to any of the others, most of whom I thought were equally outstanding. )
