Personally i put blunt into the average grouping. It's not something that'll make me want to switch the radio over for, but some of his lyrics are rather naff.
"I know you well, I know your smell" makes me cringe for some reason. I did like wisemen though, but from what i've heard of his album, that's probably the best track on there. Wasn't anything else particularly intresting on it for me really. |

As are the impendings "The Brits are getting shit, nominate anything etc etc etc" replies. |

I have a feeling that James Blunt may win best single and Best Pop act (bearing in mind the past LEGENDARY winners such as Westlife). Coldplay maybe picking up Best album, and Kaiser Chiefs will probably scoop the rest of the ones they are nominated in. Its a sad demonstration of whats been an uneventful and dull year in british music. |

And you should try seeing them live Talk about audience participation.

His is surely the most backward-thinking existence of any under 25 year old I have ever witnessed. Check out his posts on here and also on cool clarity, he seems to spend all his time online telling people how great The Beatles were and how bad new music is. I just wish he would get himself laid or summat and give us all a rest... |

I am not backward thinking at all, you clearly have lived a very sheltered life. I like ALL kinds of music, from all era's. Yes i DO happen to prefer the 60/70s rock period, but thats my choice, and its of many other people's taste as well. Your posts seem to be rabbiting on about James Blunt, thats far more backward than liking the Beatles! |

He always does rabbit on about Blunt who will probably win Best Breakthrough act (stupid title) but doesn't deserve any other.

![]() Anyway, Back To Bedlam has now gone Gold in the US on sales of 500,000 copies since being released in October 2005. He is now at number 16 in the official Billboard album chart, moving up 33 places in the last 2 weeks. Very much looks like he's going to repeat his massive European success in the biggest album market of all. Possible number 1 album methinks (even though it's not hiphop! You're Beautiful is now also up to 17 in the official US singles chart. http://biz.yahoo.com/iw/060111/0106005.html |

Oh no - not anymore than you do on Will's. It is like picking a scab, isn't it? You have to have a look and see what rubbish is being said next!

Well, here's just a selection of your posts on this thread, June (I've left out the various smilies you have used). You have over 10% of the posts on this thread by my calculations. I have never slagged off Young's singing style, I've been nowhere near as personal as you have here. But, I suppose I'm different to you in that I recognise there are other male singer/songwriters in the industry who are good also. 1. Emperor's New Clothes! 2. Don't you know what it means SGE? It means that he is conning everyone who thinks he can sing. 3. You're Beautiful is quite a nice song but JB sings it atrociously - his diction is all over the place - what does he mean by "beautifol"? 4. His criticism is not unjust, he still cannot pronounce his words correctly! And I still don't like him! 5. Virgin? Nuff said! Chav radio more like! 6. Anyway, if he is doing well, good luck to him. But I still cannot stand his whiny nasal voice. And his boring videos. 7. I have no idea - just that I am fed up with James Blunt, "You're Beautiful" and you SGE! 8. As far as I am concerned it is sloppy speech when people say "bu'er", "wa'er" etc. That's what I means by glottal stops. 9. Because it's sold a lot doesn't mean it's good! 10. However, I know I do like Will above all other singers. He is an incredibly talented and diverse man. Whereas some other singers haven't got it in them to do anything different - yet. We will see what JB's second album brings us. 11. The trouble with James Blunt is that his voice is so irritating that I cannot be bothered to listen to him so his so-called "heartfelt" lyrics are completely lost on me. 12. He always does rabbit on about Blunt who will probably win Best Breakthrough act (stupid title) but doesn't deserve any other. 13. Good luck to him but I still find him excrutiatingly irritating. Oh dear. Bordering on the obsessive, I would say. |

I think you might have too much time on your hands SGE, it's the internet for goodness sake, does it really matter?
If you dish it out you've got to be able to take it right back I say. I really liked Blunt and I've got tickets to see him in concert but I am wavering over whether I do in fact like him anymore, his voice has begun to irritate like no other. I bought the album off the back of You're Beautiful like many have done and there's just such a sameness about his music. But he may come up with something a bit more inspiring next time round, I won't write him off that's for sure. He could become a Dido/Melua type artist that seems to sell no matter how bland their music. |

Its far healthier and better to be obsessed with despising such a bland rubbish artist such as James Blunt, than it is to actually be a fan of his!! Keep it up June, you're doing well, as SGE is getting really ticked off because you are mocking his dreadful old womans taste in music! |

Lots of people will buy this uneventful dull music in the short term, but I can't see anyone being bothered in 5 years time or even less. I have heard his entire album as well (so i can at least have an informed opinion), and i have to say, its the most repetitive (bit like his fans) heap of junk i've ever heard. Similar to Dido, but she has more class and is remotely attractive!! |

Thank you Maisie and BeatleGod.
Little does SGE know it but I AM the old woman in this conversation, being probably the oldest on here. You should treat your elders with more respect SGE. I am old - I can say what I like.
