Bruno a help or a hinderance.....
Elphinstone
12-12-2005
Zoe and Ian could be just suffering from being over supported by Bruno.Even Uncle Len has said that some of the tens were not justified after viewing the replay on ITTvideo.Gaps between Ian and Zoe were very obvious.Zoe's footwork wasn't always the best..indeed she kicked Ian and still scored highly...

To be fair to Bruno other judges have their favourites as well as their pet hates.Wither it is hands or head posture
the dancers can sometimes benefit from judges being too harsh in that the viewer then votes for the "underdog" and not always the best performer.

Her footwork definately wasnt the best last week for whatever reason.
Bruno does them more harm than good, he said the week before last that they were abit off in places but they are so good together it didnt matter, (I'm paraphrasing here). That I dont agree with, a couple can be the best dancers in the world but they still make mistakes and should be marked accordingly based on that dance not the 4 dances they did before that, particularly when Bruno will have no problem talling others when their footwork was off. The Paso didnt deserve a 9 last week considering their tango got a 10 and it was technically and emotionally a much better performance.

I agree. Bruno seems blind to their faults and it's annoying! I have nothing against Zoe and Ian, but they're not my faves. I don't think they're as good as the marks suggest.

I think that sometimes Bruno deliberately marks others down because he likes Zoe so much. This week all of the other judges gave Darren and Lilia 9s and Bruno only gave them an 8 and he is not usually as harsh as the other judges.

He was the same with Ian and Denise last year.....hmmmm I'm sensing a pattern here!
Obviously the judges will have their favourites but there has to be abit of perspective

I've just posted on another thread but its clear that Bruno favours Zoe and Ian.
He has Zoe/Ian first or equal first 11 times.
Colin has never been an outright winner with Bruno and only equal first 4 times.
These figures work whether you compare the similar dances or week-by-week.
Darren has never been first with Bruno and only equal first once.

This is different from the other three judges who, whilst differing slightly have Zoe and Colin equal.

Bruno is just a complete ruddy nightmare. I am actually begining to dislike his stupid behaviour and gushing verbal diahorrea. I wish he would slope off back to his second-rate, 2 bit shows (space vixens indeed) where he can drool after the stage hands and put on as many "oh look how important I am darling" acts as he likes in the back rooms of the darkened hallways. Why we have to have a complete buffoon like him in the show is beyond me. He must spell disaster for any and every contestant he "takes a fancy" to and doesn't bring anything useful to the party at all. (including his smutty comments about seing Lens tackle on ITT tonight).

bruno was very naughty on saturday i'm a colin fan but he was very naughty marking darren down on the ballroom giving him only an 8 when everyone else gave 9's that meant it gave him scope to mark zoe and ian up above darren so that she got that extra point! i don't think that trick was lost on darren when he saw the marks! i'm not a bruno fan i think he isn't impartial enough to be a judge he's overly rude to people who are not professional dancers and he just interrupts others. i expect zoe and ian to got out 1st and they can apportion some of the blame in bruno's direction

i have to agree with you about space vixens it looked like a school production that you hold for the parents at the end of term, in fact it didn't even look that good

What Bruno said was not about marking them based on what they'd done in earlier dances; it was about how they'd been in that dance.

Quote:
“particularly when Bruno will have no problem talling others when their footwork was off. ”

When they don't do enough to make up for it in other ways.
Quote:
“The Paso didnt deserve a 9 last week considering their tango got a 10 and it was technically and emotionally a much better performance.”

Then many other 9s awarded to various dancers weren't deserved either.

The problem is that, in a sense, they are all being marked too high. Professionals would have to do more to get a 9, for example. So when something significantly better than what's been getting SCD 9s comes along, the judges have to go to 10 in order to show that it's better. That results in "undeserved" 10s that seem too high (because people are thinking of 10s in a more absolute sense) and in 9s and 10s that can seem too close together.

What all this shows IMO is not that the marking is biased or unfair but that the judges are doing a good job at a difficult task.

Good Grief! I would hope that a show such as "space Vixens" would be barred from every respectable school.

Ian makes Zoe look good dancing but there is still a gap for a bus sometimes there between them and her footwork is not 100% either. Bruno was sooooooo over the top on Saturday night that he is definitely hindering them. That, plus the simpering "little girl" act that Zoe puts on and never letting poor Ian say a word is a real turn off. Darren and Lilia deserve to win the most.

I noticed that on ITT last night, Bruno's example of how you have to carry on dancing (re the Lilia dress incident), was that he once had everything fall off , was left with a jock strap and just carried on dancing. bruno, it's hardly the flaming same as potentially flashing a boob on primetime family TV to millions of viewers!!! - cut the others some slack, i say.....
