Pioneer DVr 530 Hs and integrated freeview tv

I am thrilled with the potential of this DVD recorder - but after setting it up I find that it only records the analogue signal from my Sony TV . I have an integrated freeview box (ie its inside the tv) and the only freeview set up options on the DVR seem to be external. Is there anyway that I can get round this? It seems daft to to have to buy a set top box to operate the DVD recorder. Is it my TV that's at fault? Or have I got a 'Friday afternoon' DVR?

I think rather, that it is a setting in the Sony TV that needs changing. There are a number of reports of people struggling to record Freeview channels off an IDTV.

Getting a Freeview STB to feed the DVDR is not so crazy, as it will give you the option of being able to record one Freeview channel while watching a second Freeview channel, ie just like you have probably been used to doing with an analogue TV and a VCR.

I'd be surprised if there wasn't a digital output (freeview) available from one of the tv's scarts.
Read the tv manual carefully - you may have to change a setting on the tv menu (if you change anything, make a note of the original setting).

Once this is set up correctly, the tv scart needs connecting to the scart input on the recorder (AV2/L1 I think). Then set the recorder to this 'channel' to record from.

Hi,

I have a Pioneer 720 & Sony iDTV.

I can record digital from the Sony, so I think you may need to use a different scart socket on the TV, and ensure you input into the right Pio socket - not all work in the same way.

However, I did buy a separate STB just for the recorder, as stated, allowing me to record a freeview prog. and watch another one at the same time. This is also great for setting recordings, using the STB EPG timer, over the forthcoming week, with the Pio just set to Auto-start recording as and when the STB is switched on, This leaves the TV to be watched without interference of any recordings

Good luck

I would also be interested. Have a HD Plasma Panasonic with built in freewiew. Connected to this is Sky+ but I would like to add the Pioneer DVR 530 to record freeview but am concerned that it will not work from an intergrated freeview tv. Has anyone made this connection with success.

If the integrated TV can output the TV signal via the scart, then connect the DVD recorder to that scart, and there is a setting for the Pioneer to record information coming from the TV.

Thanks, but would I be able to watch sky & output freeview to the DVR 530 at the same time.

That depends entirely on the TV, not on the DVD-530H
