Technics SA-DX940 - No woofer in DD - Please help
Hi
I'm having a problem with my AV Technics SA-DX940. When watching normal telly and watching films in normal Dolby 5.1, the sub-woofer works fine. But when watching things that use Dolby Digital/DTS the woofer just stops working. I'm no expert when it comes to AV stuff but I've tried a number of settings with no success. I'd appreciate any help with this. Thanks Jon |

I would have thought normal telly was Dolby Pro Logic and the sub woofer should be off.
The sub should only be on in Dolby 5.1 mode. I'm assuming you are using a DVD player when teh Sub is not working? Is it connected via digital ie Optical or Coax? Is the output switched on and set correctly? If your sub is active and switches it self on when required, is this set correctly? I cant help with your model as I have a Yamaha. |

Hi
Thanks for replying. Pro Logic sounds right. I have the sub on whenever I watch anything with action in it (on TV, DVD and games). The sub is powered on and is set to 'on' via on-screen settings on the amp. The amp can take up to 3 optical connections. I have one for the TV (sky) and the other is for the DVD player/games console. The sub works fine when watching TV in pro-logic. But whenever I select DTS in a DVD menu the sub no longer works. The sub works fine when watching DVD's in 5.1. Jon |

This could be VERY wide of the mark, but have a look in the setup menu on your DVD player - some DVD's used to have the facility to switch off the subwoofer for 5.1 (although this was usually when connected using 6 phono leads). Another possible is that your Technics amp may be a bit clever - I know my current Denon remembers speaker settings for each individual input. Try selecting DVD on your amp, then going through the setup procedure again.
