Zoe Ball's Grandmother Died
chocoholic92
12-12-2005
In today's Daily Mirror Zoe Ball said she was emotional because her grandmother had died two days before.

Zoe said she kept the news to herself because she didn't want the sympathy vote (take note Bill Turnbull).

The judges said Zoe looked "nervous", "mechanical" and "devoid of emotion".

I think that Ian could have explained to the judges about Zoe's week so they knew why she look "nervous" etc. I think it's brilliant that she danced and she never complained. This woman deserves to win.

If you get to read this Zoe, my prayers are with you at this time of your sad loss.

Best Wishes always

I think you are a lone voice in the wilderness here.
i agree with you but there are a lot of really nasty people on this forum who take pleasure in insulting Zoe for some reason or other.
I wonder if they would do it if they came face to face with her and Ian? I doubt it! They would then be fawning around being all as charming as they could.

There is a lot of support for zoe but you have to find it elsewhere than on this forum as the sane and sensible people have largely left in disgust. You will find some like minded company on different threads.

I had a car sticker once which said 'the more I see of people the more I love my dog'. I think that still holds true for this forum. I usually stay safely in the calm non bashing threads, anything else is just too depressing.

Fair enough if this is the case but not mentioning it so much all the time is just like saying it and be done. Dont get me wrong she has my sympathy but the way its been gone about seems odd and it will all be down to her management team etc who want her to win but theyre going about the image thing all wrong

That is a vile thing say when someones Grandparent has died. Very distasteful.

When one loses a near relative as Zoe has just done it is a dreadful time. I am absolutely sure that she has not used this terrible thing to further her progression in what is after all just a dance competition, even if it is for charity.

Zoe Ball has had a long and successful media career of her own, she would know how to manipulate the media if she wanted. She has not done so. I think she should be applauded for not mentioning this personal upset. Just as I think her genuine friendship with Ian comes across, I think she has acted with genuine dignity regarding her own recent loss. To suggest otherwise is incomprehensible.

I realise this thread was started with the best possible intentions, but i really think it's not quite an appropriate discussion topic, please if possible could it be withdrawn? - sorry i'm not sure how to ask this any other way.

Yes, condolences. Its tough to continue with all focus and put up with criticism so kudos.

Bit sadenned to see the mad ferret brigade are using this to throw at her critics on the forums. Cheap shot ill aimed IMHO.

I support this quote in spite of my own message of support for Zoe.

I totally agree, this thread should be removed. Zoe's loss is her business and her's alone and starting yet another thread about her is not going to lead to a positive outcome.

Bill couldn't exactly hide falling over, going to hospital and having a shagged up ankle. Are we asking for the production team to gloss over this? It was directly related to the shhow and training hence fair comment.

Zoe's loss is outside of the show, personal and none of our business except to express our condolensces. We should show her some respect for not bringing it to our attention but don't bash Bill for some thing he had no control over.

Sorry to change the subject, but after reading the bottom of the article I was applalled, it said that Darren B, Anton and Brendan all said really awful things about their partners from this series. I couldn't believe any of that.

So sorry Zoe, the semi's must have been emotional anyway, but its horrible to have to put up with it. Well done, you've swayed me ever-so-slighty. Keep going girl xxx

I am sympathetic to her loss, as i know how hard it is when you lose a loved one. If it *was* a symparthy vote thing, which I don't think it is, then it hasn't worked on me as my vote goes to Darren.

As for the what someone said about Bill - he said on many occasions he didn;t want to talk about his foot. What the producers on ITT, show is up to them, however I do recall Zoe going on and on and on about how bad her cold was and coughing OTT. Now is that not talking about it?

She did however do a splendid job of dancing after what must have been a hard week.!!!

She is basically in a loose looe situation. She would be wrong and looking for the sympathy vote if she told eveybody and because she didn't she is still been judged. My fav is Colin but think people are being a bit hard on zoe.

It must be tough week for Zoe as well this week as it was last week.

Today was the funeral, tomorrow she has to put on the smile etc as it is Woody's birthday. She has to fit her training round all of this too.

I really feel for her having to go through today and then deal with a childs birthday party the next.

She really has earned respect. She will be back on Saturday giving it her all.
