Can you guy's recommend a good blank DVD for the Sony HXD710?

I will be looking for archival as opposed to playing frequently. (archiving home VHS)

I will be doing a set for family so must be able to play on a range of DVD players.

I would also want to apply a DVD label. Is this a good thing or not?

Best source online or shop.

What about speed 4x 8x 16x ?

The Sony favours DVD-R,DVD-RW due to issue with widescreen recording on the + formats.

If you mainly want to archive (write once) then you need DVD-R type discs.

In order to take advantage of the 'fast dubbing' you should get minimum 8x DVD-R. A good source online are aprmedia.com but as packs of disks are heavy postage bumps the price up.

I can personally recommend Verbatim brand discs as I have used many on my 710.

Just a quick note about labels.
Try not to use sticky labels as in time they may get damaged and will not play because of the disc becoming unbalanced. The damage may only be very small but it will still affect the disc.
If you have a printer which will print CD / DVD that is by far the best path to take.
