hd on pc monitor
hi there i am just awaiting delivery of my 32" lcd hd tv and have downloaded some wmv-hd clips off microsoft website.
i have played them on my pc monitor and they look no different really to if i played a dvd on it. is this because my 19" monitor cant show off all the pixels or is there something totally different from my pc monitor to my new tv that is arriving. i have seen hd playing on tv's in comet and are stunned at how good the pictures are. any replies appreciated. thanks. |

I wasn't impressed with the quality of HD clips played on my PC monitor (19" Samsung, using the DVI connection). They looked a bit better on my laptop (10.1" widescreen Fujitsu Siemens ultra-portable), but still nothing special.
I then connected the laptop to my Samsung 40" LCD, and the difference was obvious - as good as anything in Comet. I think it might be something to do with the higher brightness and (possibly) contrast on an LCD TV, compared to a PC monitor. A 19" monitor has a similar number of pixels as a HD TV, but laid out differently (unless you have a widescreen monitor). Rest assured, unless you have bought a rubbish TV, you will be impressed when you play the clips on it. |

i have downloaded some more hd clips to watch on my pc monitor and i stumbled across .ts hd clips which when played through 'fusion hdtv' software look incredible even on my pc monitor.
the clip i downloaded was the formula 1 that i had seen in comet running on the 50" sagem dlp. they can be found here ftp://dvdcenter.hu/HDTV/ they look miles better than the wmv-hd clips. |

If the monitor is 800x600 you won't get the full benifit of anything more than 800x600. I imagine that your monitor is better than that. I don't have a problem with WMV-HD clips from MS but have you tried the HD trailers at www.apple.com/trailers ? |
