New band called Plus-44. Featuring Mark Hoppus and Travis Barker from Blink 182. Turn your speakers on when you open this link because the song plays straight away automatically.

I really like it.

Listening to it now..hmm, so much to say. First i'll point out that I was a massive Blink fan they were the first band I was properly into and I own all their albums.
Ok so listening to the first bit of the song, it was pleasant enough, but started to really depress me by the middle part. I kinda liked how it got more upbeat and rocky at the end but didn't like the female backing vocals, I don't always think a girl in a male dominated band works unless she's the frontwoman. Don't get me wrong, sometimes this is great (Charlotte Hatherley, Ash) but going by this song I don't like it in this band.
I'll definitely be interested in hearing more to see what else they have to offer but if they're all like this song, I won't be buying the album. And it sure doesn't look good if this is their first song, they obviously feel it's the best as it's what is going to give the first impression to the world of this band.
It rather reminded me of Blinks last album, and I also kept wanting Tom's voice to kick in, as I always loved the songs where they both sang, I felt the contrast between their voices really worked well.
Still haven't heard Tom's new band and i'm all the more interested in doing so now, I feel it's got to be better than this.
Lastly, I feel kind of disappointed that Travis Barker is involved in this band but I can't quite put my finger on why. It's also really sad to see the other 2 without Tom, I think Mark should've gotten a different drummer though you can't really blame him for sticking with Travis who is amazing.
Anyway I sound like I despised the song but I didn't, I thought it was alright.

Now this! This sounds a lot more promising... I can't wait to hear a whole song by them... the clip on the video clip sounded good.
And I'd heard bits and bobs about Tom's new band, but hadn't looked into it properly yet, and I can't believe Atom and Ryan Sinn are in the band! That's so cool. Great stuff.

Part of me thinks that Mark got Travis to get back at Tom for Box Car Racer, because I don't think Mark ever got over Tom having that side project. My understanding is that it was quite prominant in the reasoning behind the guys going on a "hiatus." The more I think about it, the more I think that Plus 44 will do better than Angels and Airwaves, simply because of the way Tom has hyped it up to be the "biggest rock and roll revolution ever" (or something along those lines. Plus 44 sound a lot more blink for me. Also, I think the female vocal works quite well, and she isn't too bad looking!

Also, don't rule out a reunion for Blink. It has been said in various press sources that once both bands have done their tour, we can expect them to make another Blink album. It makes sense to me because no one has really come out properly and said, "Blink are done for good." Well, I guess Travis did, but in a later interview he claimed they would be back together at the beginning of 2007 in Drummer Magazine.

It'll be interesting to see how both the bands pan out, although Plus 44 is my favourite at the moment.

They certainly aren't short of a bon or two. I'll definately get oth albums, although I fear that I'll spend too much time comparing them to Blink 182. I miss them big time. It's such a shame that they might never make another record together.

I don't think either of them are going to escape the blink comparison, unless they have massive success and bring out a few albums and then eventually people will have to stop comparing them with blink.
I think the reason Plus 44 got a woman in was to make it different.. with them having two blink members involved.. if they'd brought in another guy who was a typical punk rock band guitarist, it would've all been too samey and I think they'd have gotten a lot of stick and comparisons.
I hope all that makes sense.
I agree about Mark not getting over the Boxcar thing, you can't really blame him when you think about what happened and how long Mark and Tom have known each other and been in bands together.
It'd definitely be interesting to see what blink came up with if they did do another album, what direction they would take. Something makes me think they'd kinda go back to their sound before the last album, though of course, not so immature lyrically. I think I feel like this because most of their albums were like this, except the last one, and Mark has kinda carried on with the new sound in his new band, so I feel they'd get back and do what they'd done the most, and done best (in my opinion.) I can't really explain that further.
I do think we'll see them together again even if it's just for one last farewell album and tour. I guess a lot of it depends on the success of the new bands. If they don't do too well they're gonna be more likely to reform sooner. Though at the moment I think Plus aren't going to do too well and A&A are going to do better and I hope it's not a case of Mark and Travis being up for the reunion, and repeatedly saying so in the press, but Tom holding out because his new band is very successful.
Anyway sorry for the waffle I haven't had a good discussion about Blink for so long!!

Don't apologise, the more Blink talk the better!!

I am struggling to see how Angels and Airwaves can be a success to be honest. I kinda think that they'll just fade into the background, I hope they don't because I think Tom is ace.

What I really want though is for Blink to get back together. You can't beat the Real McCoy.

They have a bit of a supergroup going on really though, a member of Blink, a member of the Offspring, former member of the Distillers and former member of errr, Boxcar.. so I think they'll do well. Atom is a great drummer, I've always respected him. Mark was my favourite for a long time but when you think about it, his voice is quite boring and there's nothing really special about it as such, but Tom's voice is more unique and I think A & A have that going for them.

But yeah it'd be good if Blink did reform at some point. Before Travis totally loses interest and F's off considering he's never even liked Blink's music.
