Hi,

Does anyone have any experience with the model above. I like the idea of it because it has an integrated digital tuner but can find very little info on it - i.e. third party opinions.

I played with one the other day in Dixons. Loaded EPG and text quickly. Picture was OK but I would have liked to have been able to step back from it further and check viewing angles etc. Also I could not get a stragiht answer on whether my TUTV card would plug right in and work. I was tempted but am hopeful that Argos will get some Wharfedale 17" LCDs back in. Did they EVER have any?

Well...got this model last night..... and so far very impressed. Need more time to get used to it... but build quality, speed, ease of use and firmware get the thumbs up so far.

As does the amount of connectivity! I just can't understand why there aren't any more 17" LCD units with integrated freeview!? Doesn't make sense to me.

I totally agree. If, like me, silver doesn't happen to fit in with your decor then your number of options falls to zero.

In the end I had to go for an analogue TV in order to get one that the chief household design consultant (aka 'er indoors) would allow into the bedroom.

I can get by because the RF feed comes from the PVR in the lounge, so you just have to make sure it's on the right channel before turning in for the night. But come on TV manufacturers - let's have some choice in this market segment.

I know what you are saying!! Incidently the model I am talking about.... is..... mainly black!! (even more so without the stand) and my wife was disappointed is wasn't silver!! Cannot win!

I saw the JVC 17" in John Lewis yesterday and that is also mainly black. Picture fed from DVD was very good, hope the Humax is also. I think they use the same screen?

I have just purchased one of the 17" Wharfedale LCD IDTV from Argos for the kitchen (even though they replied to an e-mail back to me to say they no longer stocked this model - just checked stores individually). Set-up was a doddle, picture very stable on all muxes and just as good as any other 17" I've seen.

At only £299 I think this is fantastic value (can you find similar cheaper?) seeing that a lot of the more well known brands are also re-badged fodder at this end of the market. Only negative comment would be that the buttons on the side look a bit Fisher Price (poorly moulded).

I am now looking for a 26" HD ready LCD for the bedroom which has to be 'designer chic' to fit the decor. I am tempted by the Philips 26PF9320 which has a mainly black surround with rounded corners but is still quite expensive at £599.

Bit of Buyer Beware here in case anyone makes the same mistake as me. I did some research before buying this and went to the Humax web-site and downloaded the User Manual. I was pleased to see the LCD had PIP. However I now have the unit and PIP is not present. I realise now I have the LGB-17DTTV rather than LGB-DTT model and there are subtle differences. I can also not find any UK retailer for the LGB-DTT model despite the humaxdigital.com web-site listing it as a UK model.

My fault I guess as not misrperesented by the retailer but I am a but miffed. The UK site does say it has 'SRS WOW' which it does not though.

This LCD TV is OK but has some annoyances (like the current source going away when you enter 'Guide' and the slow updating EPG and no easy Now and Next without changing channel! Also sometimes takes turning on twice to realise it has a valid DTV signal.

Jambo Hi, I have had the Humax LGB17 DTT for some 6 months and by and large I think it's great. It's wall mounted because being a light set I'm scared grandchilderen might knock it over. No complaints at all. I think I live in a spot where some signals are weak so the ability to switch to Anolgue has been very useful indeed. Indeed for me this is a number one feature. Equally important is the ability to do away with cables, boxes and extra remotes beause of the inbuilt freeview.
We were so pleased with the Humax experience we bought another one, the 32" with PVR. This is quite stunning and used in a much larger room is fabulous for movies. Only problem is I think it has a more powerful reception so shows up the 17" set a bit. Like we can't get channel 35 on the 17" but can on the 32". I just cannot understand why Humax never seems to appear in the Which and What to buy magazines. I found Humax by accident but am delighted with both sets. Good luck

Jambo, re my last. I do rate the LGB 17 DTT but I understand it has been discontinued and replaced by a new model with fewer features. This should be checked out in case I've got it wrong. Someone out there throw some light on this please.

Anyone got the Sky+ remote codes for this set?

Also... are most of the function implemented? (i.e. can you swap from Freeview to tuner via the Sky remote etc.)

I've just seen the 17" Humax (with integrated DTT) in Currys Digital for £249 - the price is excellent, the styling is fine, but the picture on all the TVs in Currys was dreadful so I wasn't able to judge the quality.

Does anyone have any recent experience of this (or any other) Humax TV? Is it a reliable brand?

Anyone seen a firmware upgrade for this set? Either over the air via aerial or via the Humax confusing website which doesn't appear to list the firmware at all.

Humax gear has sensitive tuner so will pick up signals from all transmitters nearby. Select manual tune and pick strongest signal in your area and delete weakest.

If you google tv transmitters you can get info from sites regarding frequencies etc for your area (wolfbane i think was the one I used).

Humax usually put out OTA upgrades for PVR equipment. I would imagine it would be same for tv. This only occurs every 3-4 months though and then only if issues are identified to fix.

I too have a Humax LCD Tv [LU26-TD1] which has a PC socket for updating of firmware.

I contacted Humaxdigital UK and was told that...

"upgrade on this model does not include any new features, it only stabilises the units operation."

Sounds pretty useful to me but where can I get it from, they haven't said. Is it likely to be an OTA transmision or PC download.

I too cannot find anything for Humax LCD Tv's on their update site.

Sorry to bump this thread. Does anyone have the firmware for the Humax LGB-17dttv as a downloaded file. Humax no longer give this firmware out which is stupid.

My TV has developed a fault which is known to be cured by re-installing the firmware via a RS232 and PC.

Can anyone help?
