when purchasing a new LCD TV, we are told to buy one that is HDTV ready. does this only apply to LCD TVs, or should we be looking for this when buying a new CRT widescreen?

crt widescreens are not hd ready because they do not have the right connection ( hdmi ) to hook up hdtv when it is launched. they are available in the us but in the uk there is no plans on bringing out high definition crt tvs. this is mainly because most people prefer slimline tvs like lcd or plasma.
to have hd on a 32" crt you would be looking at 200lbs in weight for the tv. this is due to the tube needing to be a lot bigger to accept the higher resolutions of hdtv. this is the main reason why manufacturers prefer to just produce slimline tvs.

Buy a hd ready TV if you want to be ready for the future of TV.

The HD future is early next year with any luck.

Get to see a HD picture and you will see what all the fuss is about. If it doesn't look "wow" then question what it is showing and if it is setup right.

I saw the same TV three times in three different shops before I got to see what I expected as far as HD.

If not now then in a few years HD will become more of the standard.

If you do not get a HD Ready TV will you regret it in several years time?
