DMR-ES10 Recorded Playback in Stereo Only ??

Recently purchased a dmr-es10, one thing puzzling me is why is the programmes that i record are in stereo. I have the recorder connnected to amp via optical cable and audio output set to bitstream, should this not be picking up a pro logic II feed from the stuff i am recording from my Sky+ box. The recorder picks up the pro logic II audio when viewing Sky+ but the recordings made are in stereo , any ideas anyone..

I may be mistaken, but isn't prologic, if available, embedded within the stereo sound, rather than being a separate stream?

Prologic II is just an extra facility within the audio equipment's processor, not within an audio stream, as prologic II processors can work on even to basic stereo off a CD, not just to Dolby prologic encoded material.

That is correct.
Presumably, the amp input for the dvd recorder and Sky+ will be 2 different sockets,so it sounds like the dvdr input simply needs some reconfiguring.
I'm sure there should be a button labelled PL1/PL2 or similar to change the amp into surround mode for the DVDR input.
