Im jsut wondering if a nokia n70 that is locked to the 3 network can be unlcoked or not and if not then why is this and will they be able to in the near future?

I am not just talking about remote unlocking by the way, i have no problem in paying for a shop to do it if it can be done.

The only people who can unlock the N Series or 6630/80 is the network that supplied it. There are no relaible unlocking solutions available from 3rd parties.

Nokia look to have secured these phones pretty well and after a year there has been no progress re the above. I suppose it was only a matter of time before one of the phone makers developed an unlockable device - those above have proven to be just that!

You'll have to go to 3 UK and ask for a code if you want to use an alternative SIM in your N70 but I suspect that'll be expensive and perhaps not available until the contract period expires. No harm in asking though.

Nope. All S60 from 6630 onwards can not be unlocked.

The solution has already been written and phones are being unlocked, so its not a case of Nokia writing this great crypt.....there are other reasons the sw is not on the market.

Yeah....any locked phone will work on prepay or postpay as long as the sim is the same network as its locked to.

I can do Vodafone remotely.... N70....6680 etc

Dont part with any money...... If a solution was available it would be known about and well publicised on the Internet.

Its not surprising that Nokia have managed to find a secure solution - Sky TV have been totally secure since 1997.

Sorry, no.

I've been in this business for 10+ years (1993) and after a while you gain contacts. Dont assume because something isnt all over the internet that it doesnt exist, I've gained alot of contacts since I started.

There are various reasons that the exact details are not public knowledge and the sw hasnt been released.

So what are reasons?

.....

Still no proof then. Just lots smoke and secrecy to try to explain why no one can see it.

PS. I can turn water into wine, but I can't you how its done

I dont care what people think and if I want to give proof I show it because I want to, not because some rookie unlockers source everything from the net and assume if it doesnt start with www... it doesnt exist!!!

My thought is that it is almost impossible to keep an unlocking solution or hack a secret. Someone somewhere who has had a successful job done will have made some comment - somewhere!

I can see no record anywhere of Series 60 BB5 users commenting about any SP unlock and until I do I wont believe it can be achieved.

Whoever manages to provide this type of unlock will be able to make a very considerable profit I am quite sure.

What are you going on about??!! Series 60 and BB5 are two different things.

How are users going to comment on this when its still in the hands of the sw author?! Surely users will only comment once they have had a phone unlocked?! Think!

You talk as if this hasnt happened before. It happened with Sagem, Nokia, Motorola and others. First solution for Nokia took 8 months to appear on public market and I was one of the first reselling it in UK. It happen the same with Ericsson back then as well.

Read the thread somemore, nobody doubted that the networks couldn't unlocked them. The later discussion was about an unofficial unlock solution.
