I think is it a valid question to ask because of the proportion of black people who take part in these programmes as opposed to the proportion that win. For the same reason, it is valid to ask about the low number of women who do well in these programmes. For the latter, I think the demographic of the voters is a major factor. I'm not sure about the former - if Andy doesn't win I don't think it will be because of his skin colour but because of his singing style. I think if Nicholas had been able to sing in tune he would have had a very good chance of winning.

The colour of a persons skin has nothing to do with it....how ridiculous!!!
What's happened here is that it has been noticed that non-whites never win reality TV shows and then it has been assumed that it is BECAUSE of their colour....what rot.
Nadia won BB....she isn't white British eh?!

I think it is more about gender than race really.

Incidentally, has there ever been a Oriental contestant on any reality show in the UK?

Lenny Henry won New Faces way back. Tim won UK Apprentice. 2 British Asian girls topped the BBC spelling Bee contest. Black or mixed race guy won place in OneTrueVoice. Colin Jackson is SCD finalist. Kelly Holmes was Sports Personality of the Year last year. Trevor McDonald regularly voted top newsreader. I'm sure there are others - interestingly all these people won something where they had to have genuine ability or talent as opposed to sitting in the BB house whinging.

God I'd completely forgotten Science on BB - how RUDE, I bloody loved him!!!

Well tbh I noticed that black people never seem to win either so I Think it's definately a valid point, I've been dissapointed so many times when it comes to the person I like not winning in these reality tv shows and they just happen to be black some of the time. Like Lemar,Javine, Fash in I'm a celebrity get me out of here, Rowetta X-factor, Brenda + Maria X-factor, Derek and Science Bigbrother. Maybe I just don't choose popular people to like though, I don't think its that people vote racially. It also really annoys me that only the bland people seem to win these shows most of the time, it's hardly ever the characters or people with the most talent.

What difference does it make what colour contestants are?
I can't say that i really notice. Why should i?
In these days of supposed equality, surely skin colour shouldn't even be an issue.

There are less black people in the UK so it's just by chance that white people have mostly won.

But I vote on talent not colour of skin - go Andy!

I think supposed and shouldn't are the key words here.

What's wrong with a redhead winning a competition?

Shouldn't it be the most talented or most popular who win, not what colour their hair or skin is?

Apart from the fact that I think your train of thought is going precisely nowhere and your arguments prove nothing, even if it was true that these people are getting voted off because they're black (which I dispute, I think they're getting voted off because they're not young standard males of whatever colour) what are you going to do about it???

Sue the entire public? Get the numbers of anyone who doesn't vote for Andy and get them done for racial discrimination? Really!

If David Dickinson had won IACGMOOH this year would he have been the first orange person to have won a reality TV show?

But people have already pointed out that Tim won the apprentice and Joseph won 'Strictly Dance Fever' which was voted for by the public.

So I am confused why people still keep saying black people never win. (Sorry to hunni bunni...not meaning to sound obnoxious to you as such...just a bug bear of mine when people bring colour into stuff.)

Some people have said on the SCD forum that if Colin doesn't win tonight it will be racist as he deserves to win. I can hear those threads being semi written as I type if he loses tonight.

If Colin doesn't win tonight it is because he got less votes than who did win.

I don't care what colour a person is as long as I love them and Sadie and Joseph were my favourites in SDF and Science was my favourite this year in BB....but because imo they were the best.

And it does look as if Colin could win tonight...and that will be with alot of people voting..but we shall see.

I like Andy and he deserves to win tonight as do JS and Shayne, they have all entertained me...but my votes tonight are going to JS. I might put in one for Andy as I did like him from the start too....but just got a bit fed up with Sharon's song choices. Am dreading 'Oh Holy Night' tonight..I hate that song.

That just made me laugh! I guess it does help to sing in tune to win a singing contest.

It's just my wierd sense of humour today. I liked Nicholas!
