I completely disagree. I think the judges were fair to all the couples, not biased like you claim. Darren may have improved throughout the series, but he should not have won based on his performance. Because he entertained people doesn't mean he was the better dancer!! ”

Then we must agree to disagree Ian

Im not getting in on the argument over who won as I said on another thread its over Darren won so there is no point. I have no problem with Darren winning it he was the most improved and that in itself is good enough reason to win it.

But cannot agree he was best dancer he just technically was not in ballroom his hold was often stiff and in latin he can look a bit ploddy but in saying that have no objections to him winning it at all

His paso was marked high enough although he obviously loved it and performed it well did not deserve any 10's and the 9's he got were good enough

Thanks for agreeing with me, but I think we are being told that we know nothing about dance, apparently we should have been looking at the package

The great British public, eh! Aren't they infuriating? Why do they ALWAYS get it wrong? (As Michael Howard asked at the last election).

Clearly you haven't read anything I have written! or anyone else for that matter!!

Noone has said that Colin or Zoe weren't better dancers, noone has said that you know nothing about dance - I think you know nothing about the nature of Strictly Come Dancing, but clearly the fact u think Colin and Zoe are better technically show u do know about dance! They are technically better!

My argument is with the fact that u think the best dancer should win SCD - they should not as that is not solely what it is about.

I also have an argument about the fact u think that Darren won because people voted for him only cos of his personality! Again that is not true - I for one voted for him (and I believe that this is about the 6th time I have written it today, but seeing as some people cannot read posts properly I will say it again!), because a) he could dance, b) he came from being a relatively poor dancer, and c) he had a great personality and a great time doing it!

Those of you who want to see the best dancer win, should not be watching SCD - save yourself and the rest of us some grief, as you will not always be satisfied!!

I've wanted Darren and Lilia to win for weeks. They *are* great dancers. Get a 10 and you're doing something right. They have such a laugh together, are exciting to watch and made the public fall in love with them. Lilia's amaaaaaaaaaazing, she's a great choreographer and dancer and has worked wonders with the celebrity boys.

They did deserve to win. For 100 reasons. Just be happyyyyyyyyyyyyyy! Because I am!

Of course the best dancers didn't win - that would be Zoe & Ian.

Their final dance was outstanding.

Having said that I was glad Darren won over Colin who has imo been over-rated throughout the series due to Arlene and the snake hips.
Take away the snake hips and he should have gone weeks ago had it not been for his pro' choreographing to avoid his weaknesses but of course that is what she was supposed to do.

It's a shame that people vote for peronalities - sex appeal whatever rather than the dancing.

We are all entitled to our opinions.

Spot on Jos!

There are some pointers here for the next lot of celebrities here who take part in SCD

1) Try not to do too well early on otherwise you will miss out on the 'most improved' vote (whatever that is!)
2) Keep pointing out that you have never danced before.
3) Watch your personality! Make sure you come across the right way.
4) Understand that although the judges have 50% of the vote the public votes count for more.
e.g. Final

Zoe & Ian judges vote 3 Public 1 **TOTAL 4**
Colin & Erin judges vote 2 Public vote 2 **TOTAL 4**
Darren & Lilia Judges Vote 1 Public vote 3 **TOTAL 4**

All scored 4 but due to the public vote being most important the results were
1 - Darren & Lilia
2 - Colin & Erin
3 - Zoe & Ian

So the public voted exactly opposite to the judges.

oh and I almost forgot........
4) Learn to dance (although thats not really that important!)

I totally agree with MiniHoy, Cat123 and Zeus if you want to watch a proper dancing competition then DON'T watch SCD. It is purely a popularity contest with a bit of dancing thrown in!

That said I really enjoyed the whole series.

But I have to agree with everyone that said the real winner is CIN. And that ALL came from the public vote!

The majority of people don't vote for personalities on their own though!! Darren is a good dancer, so a good dancer won the show! Isn't that what u lot asked for??

He is not Quentin, Chris or Diarmuid so get over it!

And as for the 4 rules for the next lot of celebs - in my eyes just be honest, do what u can, do your best and let it take it's course!

Got to agree with you once again Nat.

I have freely admitted to having been backing Darren & Lilia to win this series & it wasn't a case of pure personality.

The guy can dance; one need only look at his waltz, foxtrot, paso doble, jive & that amazing showdance to see that.

He has, as even the judges had to admit, perfect timing & this, combined with the musicality of Lilia's coreography; and a sheer sense of enjoyment that shone out, produced wonderful performances.

The fact that they were able to achieve the results they did, whilst still retaining a sense of aiming for achieveable goals (a one week at a time approach) & maintaining sense of fun made it possible to, not only, identify with them, but to warm to them as people.

All this adds up to an entertainment package, which is what SCD is,not a pure dance competition; though having seen SCD I really would, now, like to see a real competition, it is light entertainment that obtains the vast proportion of its entertainment value from the dancing.

I have never found it possible to call any of the celebs; they have all done marvellously, but neither do I feel the need to defend my personal taste & that is what the voting came down to taste.

I must say, although I wanted Zoe to win Darren and Lilia's routines made me smile a lot.

Personally I don't think it's fair to say they PURPOUSLY set out for sympathy votes. As we don't actually know these people (which although we've watched them almost solidly for X amount of weeks we DON'T) I think it is very presuming to say that they're using manipulative tactics. If this is the case then you would have to say most other celebs have used it too. The phrase 'but he/she is not a dancer' has come out of every Pro's mouth.

I think people voted last night on personal taste. Colin and Erin's dances have never done anything for me in the way Darren and Lilia's and Zoe and Ian's have. But that's personal taste for you.

Totally agree with this, Glen. To be honest I didn't vote until this week, although I have had various favourites (for various reasons) that had fallen along the wayside. However, it became clear to me over the last couple of weeks that I was enjoying Darren's performance more than anyone else. That's why he got my vote.

The fact that he was "One of the lads" and the effect on his family and friends made it interesting. But I acknowledge that the work he put in along the way was no more nor less than anyone else.

Colin was fitter and more agile than most of the other celebs, and more used to getting up at unearthly hours to rehearse. But that was only a slight advantage - you still have to deliver the goods as a dancer.

I did not vote for Darren out of sympathy. But because his performances as a dancer and an entertainer moved me more than anyone else. If he had been knocked out first, I would have voted for Zoe on the strength of her tango and show dance.

The week that Patsy left, I manipulated the BBC image thing with all the heads into how I wanted it to end up. It almost came true, only I put Zoe & Ian second.

Darren & Lilia!! - The Right Dancers Won!!!!!!!

I wanted Darren and Lilia to win because they made such a good couple, danced together so well and constantly surprised me with exciting routines. Put basically, they were the most enjoyable to watch on every level.

Having said that, I do sympathise with the posters who say he overplayed the "most improved" card. Last night when he started to tell Tess yet again that he had never danced in his life until 10 weeks ago, Tess tried to tell him that neither had any of the others, but it was time to move on in the interview so they didn't have a debate about it!

However, I don't think this was a deliberate vote-winning tactic. I believe Darren has been swept up in the excitement of it all and couldn't believe it was happening to him, hence the repetition of how bad he was at the start (not that bad, actually - I enjoyed the first week as well!) and the wonder of how he kept improving and how much he was enjoying himself. Also, perhaps if the interviewers had asked him some different questions he wouldn't have had to trot out the same replies all the time.

I agree - I don't think he went for the sympathy vote - I don't think he could believe how far he had got in the competition with no previous experience - particularly when you see his first performance.

Yes, he'll have to console himself playing for Essex because I doubt if he'll be able to revive his England career now. Unless they want a few dancing lessons!

Are you an Essex supporter, then, GG?

I agree he was improved the most but not the best unlike the other series he seemed to win just for effort I also thought seeing the dancers from earlier in the series 1 or 2 should have stayed just as long
