I think the public voted partly for Darren's personality but predominently because they had enjoyed the style of his performances. That's what I did, anyway.”

I didn't say he didn't have technique. I was just saying that the show strives to transcend the either/or approach and encourage voters to look for the best balance of technique and personality. There's no need to say Darren won because of being entertaining rather than technically sound. You can say he was both. That's why it's a good show.

There was something about their performances, a fun element that just wasn't there with Colin and Erin. They did everything with a smile on their face.
Don't for one minute think that they didn't take it seriously, because they did. They worked hard, but not as obsessively as some. And they still managed to look like they were enjoying themselves, however hard they were working and however difficult things were.

The voting public are not dance experts, they are viewers of an entertainment show. Therefore it is not really a surprise that the most entertaining couple should win.
I know that the best dancers won Series 1 and 2, but they were so much better than everyone else that people could tell and vote accordingly.
This time the standard of the top 5 couples was much closer together, and people needed to find something to differentiate them. That something was entertainment.

Or at least that is why I voted for Darren, and I would suggest I am not alone in that.
So to go back to how I started...did he Deserve to win? Definitely, and he should be given credit for doing so.”

This is a brilliant post which sums up totally what I think. Spot on.

Darren pulled it out of the bag 100% on the night and absolutely deserved to win. Entertainment with a capital E.

Reminds me of the 1994 Olympics and Torvill and Dean's comeback... were they the *technically* best dancers on the ice? No. Should they have won? Yes.
