The quote below sums up the whole series for me, had Shayne been ugly he would have got nowhere SYCO productions once more conned the very intelligent British public to give them excatly what they want.

I think the problem is that the British public get what they want - and they want what they're told they want. Most of them don't have the wit to step outside the stereotyped norm. And I wouldn't expect that's just the British public either, but masses in general. That is one of the problems with a society governed by the mass media; although you would hope that it would give us more variety, it does the exact opposite and we get less.

Isn't it about having the X-Factor though? Andy has an amazing voice granted but Shayne has all round appeal, I believe that is what the X-Factor is all about, isn't it?

Do you honestly think that if he had a terrible voice, he still would have won, I don't think so.

No, I don't think that because otherwise Nick would not have left so early

(not that I think Nick had a terrible voice, but he was well fitter than Shayne, but didn't sing quite as well. and I don't think it was owt to do with his colour either - lots of white gals fancied our nick! )

Well said. That's why I love the term "sheeple". The GBP is oh so predictable

Erm, maybe just maybe his voice got him through. He's an amazing singer and he appeals to a much wider fanbase than Andy.

Shayne will sell records, doubt if the others will. Hopefuly Brenda will get to release something though.

I'm actually stunned by how bitter you people are about your favourite not winning.

*applauds* I really enjoy reading comments like this...some users are just so ungracious in defeat sometimes.

Totally agree with you.

I like JS a lot, I really thought that if they had won, Simon would have got those international stars he wanted.

There is no comparison on voices, swap voices and Andy wouldn't even have made the bootcamp.

How sad!!!

I'm a Chico fan and was gutted when he went out, but I think the best singer won, he was unbelievably fantastic tonight I didn't think he sang one wrong note

I wouldn't have minded Andy winning either as I thought he as brilliant too.

Oh and I'm neither a sheep, stereotype or a teeny bopper

Oh and give Shayne the voice of Andy and I am sure there would have been a bigger gap in percentages.

I wanted JS to win, they didn't but I'm convinced they're talented enough to have a great career in the music business. If Andy's good enough he'll make it too, if not he won't.

Congratulations to Shayne, hope he's a real success.

Its about personal taste and opinion ...I actually found andy's voice quite bland, and at times irritating! I love Shaynes voice though

Horses for courses as they say!

I thought the three acts should have finished in reverse order...Shayne 3rd, Andy 2nd and the winners, Journey South. From my viewpoint, Shayne seems to have had a charisma bypass, Andy should last a while singing non pop songs and Journey South should do really well for a long time.

As I'm going to point out all the time...

... Steve was the favourite last year and won. Now he's stuck in the Easy Listening section of ASDA and G4 are getting Platinum No.1's.

I feel the same will happen here... Andy (2nd like G4) will make his career, as the majority of music lovers don't watch the show, and go on vocal ability and not whether they want to get down their trousers!

Oh dear oh dear, what a place we live in...

I gave in and voted for him 3 times, I just didnt want Andy to win.

All I want now is Shane stripping off for some magazines and then coming out the closet and accepting his sexuality.
