Was the winner's single tailored specifically for Shayne???
I've heard the single a couple of times and it just sounds as though it was written with just Shayne in mind.
Sure, anyone can sing it, but it looks specifically designed for Shayne. It sounds very 'Westlifey', and boyband ballad type stuff, and I can really imagine this as a Westlife song. I just get the feeling that Louis Walsh had a huge amount of influence on the writing of the song, and couldn't get Shayne out of his mind as the song was being written. I can almost imagine Louis was thinking to himself, "This is Shayne's song", so had it written as though it actually was at the time of writing. It feels as though the judges felt that Shayne was bound to win, so decided to write the song as though Shayne had already won the show. It just doesn't really sound suited to the other contestants who recorded the song, but feels as though it's right in Shayne's ballpark to appeal to the type of target audience that he is more geared to. What do other people think? |

I personally thought the song is too low for it to be totally effective for Shayne and thought it was written more with the deeper singers in mind. Really don't like the song at all. My 9 year old wants a copy of the cd on wednesday but personally Im looking forward to the first non x factor song that he releases, the official songs are always crap imo.

I do agree that it isn't a good song, and I don't think I'd like it whoever sang it.

Simon chose the song and yes I'd say he had a boyband sound in mind.

I liked the song and thought that Shayne sang it better, but my other half thought that the song was written for Shayne.

Whoever it was tailored for, I thought it was very boring. I was thinking the same as you, it's just another boring Westlife type crap they knock out every 3 months.

Not sure if it was written with Shayne in mind but I must say it suited Shaynes voice a lot better.

What do other people think? Well, when I heard Andy sing it, I thought it had been written just for him "you know where I've come from..." and we all know (don't we?!!!) that he was a bin man, "working-class" lad and stuff. And there's so much reflection in the song that it isn't at all suited to someone of Shayne's age. |

As I have said before I had been told that Shayne would win over amonth ago and that Gary Barlow would write his first hit.

I am by no means a music expert but I found Andy's version far more passionate, but you can't get the world to agree on nothing in this life.

It was written by Swedish songwriter Elofsson who also wrote Evergreen and A Moment Like This - it's just Simon Cowell has no imagination. He could have done a lot better picking a more interesting song really.

It sounded like an Andy song to me. It's a song that needed to be sung by an older man. Shayne's smooth voice ruined it.

The song definately didn't suit Andy, but then again I thought Andy singing anything sounded boring as there's hardly any variety in his voice IMO.
Shayne was the better of a boring final 2 but I still think he's going to be the next Gareth Gates

I think it's the same as the first PI final - I always thought that 'Forever Green' was written with Gareth in mind but Will just did a better version on the night. Same thing with Andy - it IS a boybandy song but he managed to make it so much more. Come to think of it with so much stuff like Westlife in the charts no wonder he lost!
