Have a look in the background just as Tess is commiserating with Colin & Erin, you can see Ian walk into view clenching his fist and saying 'yes' as though he was happy Colin & Erin didn't win.

Maybe this shows that there was some genuine bad blood between them stemming from Erin speaking out about the perceived overmarking of Zoe & Ian a few weeks ago.

Or maybe he was just happy for Darren and Lilia and I'm reading waaaaaaay too much into it!!!

It definitely seemed like he was happy about the final result though.

Anyone else notice it and read it the same way?

Noticed it, but thought he was just mouthing his congratulations to Darren & Lilia, whilst the Colin & Erin interview was being conducted.

It looked like he was genuinely happy to see Darren and Lilia win

I don't know why. You'd think Ian would be happy to lose to the best set of dancers. Or maybe he was just happy Erin didn't win because him and her have a small rivalry thing going on.

Well, I think that's a tricky thing. I can tell you though from personal experience that although Darren and Lilia weren't my favourite couple, I couldn't help but be genuinely pleased to see them win.

They looked so happy, it's hard not to feel happy for them too.

Yes I saw it. It wouldn't have killed Ian to show a little bit of class. I didn't see any of the other dancers/celebs SO excited to see Darren and Lilia win. I think Ian genuinely didn't want Colin and Erin to win. Maybe he was still bitter about Erin's comments in the previous weeks.

Yea I noticed it too and thought it was a bit much but everyone has their favourites even Ian and I guess if it wasn't him he wanted it to be Darren and Lilia, I don't think he and Erin get on exactly

Yes, I noticed it and thought what a mean spiteful man he was!

I noticed, but he was looking on Darren and Lilia's direction at the time so I think it was just a possitive to them, not negative because he doesn't like Colin and Erin!

Don't be mean about Ian! He's lovely and sweet, I don't think he meant anything by it!

Ian was highlighted because he was stood directly behind Colin & Erin. For all we know there could have been lots of the other couples offering their congratulations to Darren & Lilia at the same time (it took until the cameras were about to cut away to the closing, pink & glittery, credits before anyone other than Darren Bennett was allowed near them).

It is a bit harsh to interpret what might just have been an example of good sportsmanship towards the winners, on Ian's behalf, as an affront to Colin & Erin; after all, we didn't get the chance to see if Ian offered them his commisserations on a close run thing.

I wouldn't read too much into these things - we weren't there and don't know what was going on do we?

It is quite clear that Ian is looking at Darren and Lilia when he says 'yes'. Just because he was happy for them doesn't mean it was a dig at Colin and Erin. It's not as if he put two fingers up behind their backs is it? Besides I notice how people are quick to criticise Ian for that but didnt seem to care when Erin showed how unsportsmanly she was when she complained about Zoe and Ian's 10.

I'm a neutral in this incident; D & L were my favourites, but I have to say that Erin did get a lot of flak over the complaint, to camera, over Zoe's 10 (personally, I thought & stated that she seemed to direct it at the judges & not the couple).

By the same token, I'm in agreement with your interpretion of Ian's actions behind Colin (see my earlier post).

The weeky backbiting session is getting rather tedious, I'm afraid.

But the last thing Ian would be is mean and spiteful, I think he was just genuinely pleased for Darren and Lillia and reading anything else into it is plain stupid. He has shown nothing but true Professionalism and been the complete gentleman throughout the whole series.
This is the man who did a spectacular showdance after coming third, who accidently slipped and got back up smiling and carried on. He deserves praise not malice, and isnt it time all the petty back biting stopped. The show is finished, Darren and Lillia won, game over, no more to be said.

If that was the case then it would not only have been mean but also hypocritical.

After only week 1 of the last series he was complaining about the marks awarded to Brendan/Sarah.

Can't see any reason why he should be upset with Erin.

Didn't seem to care?!?

You obviously weren'there that week. Erin was scrutinized that week countlessly., despite the fact that some of her comments were true. The thing about Patsy was a bit harsh, bu her comments on Zoe had truth to them.

How quickly everyone seems to jump to conclusions. All of the competitors seemed to get on well and I saw very little animosity. Not so with their fans! They seem to take any little opportunity to attack the opposition.

Actually I found the behaviour of Karen/Bill the most disagreeable.

As the result is announced both Bill and in particular Karen are seen whooping with delight right under the noses of the crestfallen Erin/Colin.

Given the huge amount of public support this couple enjoyed, their outspoken support for the 'Dazzler' both after their departure and just prior to the final certainly didn't do his chances any harm either.

Perhaps 'Gentleman Bill' could learn a thing or two about manners from Colin.

Time to spread the venoma bit wider is it? Why not include the audience; who had to be hushed by Bruce, before Tess could talk to Colin & Erin, in your tirade?

Despite everything that has been said on here, in the many "We was robbed" type threads, all the couples cheered the winners, when the result was announced; including Colin & Erin &, by doing so, have shown far more sportsmanship than some of their fans.

GlenP, let the halo slip abit.

Forums are all about debate and a cross-section of opinion.

If some people are upset at the result or unhappy with the behaviour of others they are perfectly entitled to express it.

If one person expresses a point of view that is at considerable odds with everyone else, that doesn't make him/her any less entitled to make it.

Neither is everyone obligated not to say anything negative if the criticism is genuinely felt and stated without the use of obscene language.

It's well known you are a Darren/Lilia fan and your 'Lets all be happy for them' attitude can grate with some.

Lupe, glad to see you've explained what the forum is for and guess what you are right, but by the same token the forum is not for spewing downright nastiness and being nasty about The Dancers the Show, the Celebrites or other Forumites.

No one has ever said that we are not all entitled to our own opinion and everyone is entitled to agree or disagree.
The difference is that a small minority have chosen to display their opinions in a rude, sometimes nasty and often offensive way with complete disregard for other users. And this is why quite a few threads have been closed by the moderators.

It saddens me that such a brilliant Show and the majorly universal love and enjoyment of it has constantly been brought down to gutter level and below by some inconsiderate people.

I had hoped all this would have stopped by now, but I should have known better really shouldnt I.

Ian punched the air because he'd just heard he'd clinched the contract to be the new Chest of Veet.

I didn't realise expressing the opinion that, for one of the most popular couples of the series, to state the day before the final takes place who they think the public should vote for in such a forthright manner appeared a tad ungallant, was particularly venomous.

Nor that viewing Karens' whooping and hollering under the nose of the crestfallen Erin to be also a little uncalled for, was exactly harsh either.

Odd too that Lilia's finale to her showdance (draped around Darrens' neck was an exact replica of the finale of Karen/Brendans freestyle dance.

No-one liked it when Arlene stated who should be removed from the competition before the semi-final dances had even taken place, yet it is perceived to be ok for a couple with a huge public backing to state who should win the final before any dances have taken place.

How odd.

I think it's defently being blown out of proportion, would we be having this convo if it was someone else doing it behind Darren and Lilla if they had lost.

If you want to look at something look at the look on Brendan's face, my friend thought he looked like he was going to kill someone, that's our debate anyway taking the nasty spotlight off the lovely Ian for a minute!!!
