Much though it saddens me to have to say this I have to say that I have become more & more disgusted with the behaviour of some of the FM's over the last few days.
Not only have there been innumerable threads opened that serve no purpose other than to provide a venue for the various witch hunts that have been embarked upon, but it has become a case of, let's see how many of the other, celebratory threads (not simply those wishing to congratulate the winners, any which celebrates the achievements of the non-favourite couple) can have a little bit of venom injected. Why not rain on as many parades as possible?
Threads have been created in which those who were previously popular are now being treated as being guilty of a crime worse than high treason.
Others, where it is alleged that the result was only arrived at due to a conspiracy/fraud/dirty tricks/subliminal messages within, or by, the BBC; all after the very same people had been lauding the program makers; so long as their favourite could win.
There have been claims that the result was due to racism, sexism, homophobia or just sheer stupidity on the part of he public; whislt, at the same time, the judges, whom many held to be biassed before, have now become the only people worthy to decide the winners (the voting public just can't be trusted, you know, their eyes are all to close together).
Anyone who dares to utter a "non-We was robbed" thought is at risk of being lambasted for daring to be happy; one wonders when we, or one of the dancers are going to be asked to go off quietly, write a poem & them slit our wrists in pennance.
I subscribe to other SCD forums, most of which have a membership that is largely composed of people (mainly feminine in gender) between the ages of 12 - 16. They absolutely idolise their favourite dancers/couples; being mainly pro dancing fans, & yes, some were reduced to tears by Saturday's results; both of joy & of sorrow.
The demographic is not the major difference between the two forums, what is significant is the fact that they have managed to avoid any of the ridiculous behaviour that has been evident & even when their own favourites did not win, be mature enough to show restraint in their posts & good sportsmanship.
I have quoted one of the pros as saying that it can be scary out there, after reading the forums, & that wasn't even at the semi-final stage. Imagine what would be the reaction to some of the more extreme postings that have appeared since Saturday? A small but vocal group managing yet again to put the reputations of the majority at risk.
Oh well: plus ca change, plus c'est la meme chose.
