Nor that viewing Karens' whooping and hollering under the nose of the crestfallen Erin to be also a little uncalled for, was exactly harsh either.

Odd too that Lilia's finale to her showdance (draped around Darrens' neck was an exact replica of the finale of Karen/Brendans freestyle dance.”

You made Karen sound like a right bitch just then! She's so not!!!! She's allowed her opinion and I don't think she was insensitive about it. I think she was plased Darren won because he was similar at the start to Bill.

And it's a dance move! Simple as that!!! You're reading into that way too much!

Hmm.. to be honest I think if everyone had reacted with blank faces, polite claps showing no reaction towards either couple I'd have been a bit disappointed.. i think THAT would have shown unhappiness amongst the dancers/celebrities and perhaps that something untoward was going on behind the scenes that none of us was aware of.
As it was, with jumping and whooping and cheering I think we can genuinely believe that they were happy for each other. Beesknees posted a post in 'Bill & Karen Appreciation" or "Ballroom Bill" can't remember which right now - last night outlining her experience of watching from the gallery on Saturday night at the BBC studios. She said that they all went running to congratulate the winning couple. Do you really think they wouldn't have all gone running if Colin & Erin had won too?
I know I'd have been thrilled for them too. I'd have been thrilled for whoever won and I'd have been jumping up and down for either one.
I was still undecided who I wanted to win up until the last moment. I had favoured Darren & Lilia as they had moved me more than the other couples but my mind was not made up until last night.
The finalists were all winners and I'm thrilled for them all.

Well said, Peach. The point is also that once the cameras were on to Darren and Lilia, we didn't get to see who was commiserating with Colin and Erin. I did notice that Anton had moved position to get closer to Erin after the results were announced, which I thought was nice of him.

I really think that Ian and Bill and Karen were just being their lovely selves in congratulating Darren and Lilia. If you think about it, if you weren't supposed to cheer the winning team out of respect to the losers, football grounds would be incredibly quiet places. I think everyone got their fair share of credit for producing a fantastic, nailbiting final. Everyone danced well and everyone deserved to win. Unfortunately they all couldn't. My favourite couple came third, but I would have been happy for any of the finalists to win.

This gesture could have implied a number of different things. I think it is rather foolish to speculate and upset yourself and others over it.

Of course the couples including Bill/Karen showed their joy for Darren and Lilia winning. What were they supposed to do at the end, stand around glumly and do a slow clap?

Colin was beaming ear to ear for them as well. Erin looked her usual gracious self.

Some people on these forums honestly....it's a light entertainment show!!

Much though it saddens me to have to say this I have to say that I have become more & more disgusted with the behaviour of some of the FM's over the last few days.

Not only have there been innumerable threads opened that serve no purpose other than to provide a venue for the various witch hunts that have been embarked upon, but it has become a case of, let's see how many of the other, celebratory threads (not simply those wishing to congratulate the winners, any which celebrates the achievements of the non-favourite couple) can have a little bit of venom injected. Why not rain on as many parades as possible?

Threads have been created in which those who were previously popular are now being treated as being guilty of a crime worse than high treason.

Others, where it is alleged that the result was only arrived at due to a conspiracy/fraud/dirty tricks/subliminal messages within, or by, the BBC; all after the very same people had been lauding the program makers; so long as their favourite could win.

There have been claims that the result was due to racism, sexism, homophobia or just sheer stupidity on the part of he public; whislt, at the same time, the judges, whom many held to be biassed before, have now become the only people worthy to decide the winners (the voting public just can't be trusted, you know, their eyes are all to close together).

Anyone who dares to utter a "non-We was robbed" thought is at risk of being lambasted for daring to be happy; one wonders when we, or one of the dancers are going to be asked to go off quietly, write a poem & them slit our wrists in pennance.

I subscribe to other SCD forums, most of which have a membership that is largely composed of people (mainly feminine in gender) between the ages of 12 - 16. They absolutely idolise their favourite dancers/couples; being mainly pro dancing fans, & yes, some were reduced to tears by Saturday's results; both of joy & of sorrow.

The demographic is not the major difference between the two forums, what is significant is the fact that they have managed to avoid any of the ridiculous behaviour that has been evident & even when their own favourites did not win, be mature enough to show restraint in their posts & good sportsmanship.

I have quoted one of the pros as saying that it can be scary out there, after reading the forums, & that wasn't even at the semi-final stage. Imagine what would be the reaction to some of the more extreme postings that have appeared since Saturday? A small but vocal group managing yet again to put the reputations of the majority at risk.

Oh well: plus ca change, plus c'est la meme chose.

I bow to you Glen, you said everything that needed said very eloquently, and I agree wholeheartedly, says a lot if teenagers can manage to behave better than grown adults over a show we are all supposed to love.

Ive said it before but its time for the knives to be withdrawn, the show is over, nothing can be changed, the show as it stands was wonderful, so lets enjoy the good memories of that instead of all the pointless negativity.

Why did Brendan look as if he was going to kill someone..................Fiona wasn't anywhere near as far as I could see !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I dunno my mate said it, I think he looked sexy. He was there somewhere on the stairs looking blank and untouched by anything I'm not sure where I'll have a look.

OMG, yeah I saw Ian, he must have been upset by Erins comments about their undeserved 10!!! Looks like all the couples were routing for Darren, Pasty looked overjoyed too. Lets hope that the dancers will experience next year what it like to lose to a below average dancer with minimal improvement.

edit - other than james, he must have been p-ed off about Darrens non stop competitiveness.

BTW Darren fans King Kong is on! (channel 4)

His comment on ITT last night gave the game away.

In the 'video diary of the final' clips he stated quite clearly that once he and Zoe were out he was rooting for Darren all the way !

So? He's allowed!! If he'd said he was rooting for Colin, all the Darren fans would have been annoyed!!

Leave Ian alone! He's lovely!
